To all the purists, who want to nitpick my car, and point out what isn't stock, and what isn't supposed to be this way or that. To all the people who want to point out that 70/4's didn't come with 150mph speedo's. To the people who critisize me for using a mini cooper color on MY car. To the people who think customizing a car means putting a CD player in it and replacing a rusty muffler... Ya you know who you are.
Mine is still cooler....

End of rant.....

One of the few cars that I always loved the 916 bumper on. Car looks awesome IMO.

To many, the 914 is the bastard Porsche already, so modify to your heart's content. Love your wheels, stance and tire-to fender fit.

Yea, I love when guys say "Um... your windscreen wipers are missing" to which i say "it's 90 degrees with no clouds.... i think i'm alright"

As far as I'm concerned, 914s are like Harleys - a blank canvas to create what you want
Except, of course, those really cheezy aftermarket body kits

Nice ride

Very, very nice resto. Always enjoy a restored car (who cares if it is entirely original) running on the street and being enjoyed.
Great job!

90 and cloudless is perfect bored-cop weather...
Having visible stuff obvious is an invitation for them to go looking closer.
I prefer to avoid such invitations. Your call.
I don't like the 916 front even on 916's, and most of them fit like cr&p. Yours fits, so well done.

They, not you, are right. It's illegal in CA to operate a motor vehicle, other than a motorcycle, on public roads without a fully functional windshield wiper system. I have a ticket to prove it.

You should feel free to do whatever you want to your teener. It is obviously not original so it doesn't matter.
If it was original it would be on jack stands like mine......

Obviously you should be ashamed of yourself, and give me your car in an effort to save face with the community at large.
I will be by tonight around 8:30PM to pick it up. Does that work for you?
Clearly, this is for your own good and I am sure you understand. We can't have just anyone out there modifying their cars the way that they like and driving them around in public.

very nice...I wish I still lived where it didn't rain. I have had my 914 for 38 years and it was modified for about 37 of those years. Who keeps a car completely stock? Probably those that like to look at them more than drive them.

But you should consider painting the rockers to match the body. I never liked how the 916 bumpers don't have the black across the bottom to match the rockers. I contemplated painting the side/bottom of my 916 front end black to carry the sight line across.

Yeah, given this summers climate, I would think we'd ALL wish we lived in a place that DID rain. EVERYWHERE needs it.
As for the car, Crashdown, are you having fun? Do YOU like your car? If so why even justify anyone else's opinion by this thread...

I guess there will always be people who take things out of context. 'Blank canvas' were the words to focus on. Build your car (or anything else) the way you see fit.
But then again, the old adage - "if I have to explain ... " comes into play

Factory stock, neither makes a lot of power.
They both make a lot of noise.
They both mark their territory.
Chicks dig them both.
Nope, no comparisons there.

I left my car all stock since I can't deal with crazy customizers like you!
Just kidding! Your car is awesome. If I had to nit pick it, your carbon fiber wrap on the headlight eyebrow is not patterned matched to the rest.

Now lets nit pick mine...
7 shades of white
bondo lifting on flares
misc holes filled with bondo
non stock headlights
non stock motor
air dam rubber cracking
air dam
ricer wing
Herbie graphics
roll cage
cable shift
NACA ducts
hole in bumper
radiator
trailer hitch
modified engine lid
944 mirrors
doors cracked under the 944 mirrors
transmission painter orange
speaker holes in doors
930 brakes
I can go on and on...
Fuch the haters!

People who nit pic, criticize, or otherwise deride tend to suffer from poor self-esteem. Putting others down makes them feel superior and compensates for their poor self image, insecurities, etc. The next time you receive uninvited criticism, remember where it is coming from and for what reason.
