I have two distributors
JFUR4
0231167049
113905205AJ

JFUD4
0231174005
022905205F

One is from a 1.7L and the other is from a 1.8L. Which one should I use? I would like to upgrade the points to something more modern. I would like it to be self contained so I would preferr not to use the crane optical. It would seem that pertronics is no longer in business. However hot spark is. I'm leaning towards hot spart unless there are compelling reasons why not to

Thanks

Depends on if your running carbs of FI.

Since when is Pertronix out of business? I just looked up their website. All looks ok there. confused24.gif

The first one is actually from a VW Type I. The "113" part number gives that away. The 914 distributors started with "022" or "039". Possibly "021" as well.

The 022 905 205 F is a later 1.7 914 distributor. It should have FI "trigger points" in the base, look for a three-conductor plastic plug. If you're running D-jet EFI you will need the trigger points to work, so this would be the obvious choice.

Are you running carbs? Aftermarket EFI? Stock 1.7 or 2.0 D-jet? Stock 1.8 L-jet? Something else?
