- Make sure you have the wiring in the steering column. A early '73 may not have it.
- Get the extension harness. It plugs into your wiper motor connectors and adds a relay socket.
- Get the correct relay
- Brake off the tab on the wiper lever that prevents the lever from going down a notch.

This article mentions the extension harness and relay:

PS: Do a search here, there are some good threads about the subject already ...

I used a 924 switch, a 914-6 pump, a factory intermittent relay and a relay harness from Mr. Bowlsby.

All looks and operates factory... which isn't saying much. If you're electrical savvy, Valy can share his schematic for a better solution. The factory intermittent is really not worth the effort. His will operate at the speed you select with the stalk. Pretty slick.

I have the extension wiring and an NOS relay for sale in the classifieds......

So Mark has the factory 914 harness for intermittent wipers. I believe it was called 'flick wipe'. Does it work just like normal intermittent wipers?

Here's how it works, if you have the factory intermittent switch.

Lower the right stalk for intermittent. I don't recall what it is but, it's like a 3-4 second delay. That's it. Better than full on but not amazing by today's standards.

The rest of the stalk works the same; one up for low, two up for not as low as low. biggrin.gif

I saw in the archives that pull give you wash + 4 wipes. I don't know if mine does this now since the washer pump does not work and I never use it. I think my spare needs more tire pressure, or maybe something wrong with the pressure valve.

Sorry, but someone just swooped in & bought my harness.

If you're going to put in the int wipers, you might also go to an electric washer pump. SirAndy has a writeup on how to do that.wipers,

The programmable relay is really nice.

I found that wire diagram on the Samba site I think. That sounds really slick. Now I just need to implement.

Got my #99 programmable wiper relay on the way. Found this hook-up diagram.
