1971 914 originally a 1.7 but massaged to a 2.0 with same case.

Rebuilt engine with a little more than break-in hours.
Weber carbs now but all OEM fuel injection retained. New clutch, pressure plate, TO bearing, rebuilt (essentially new) calipers, rotors, struts, ball joints, rebutted & rebuilt pedal assy, new 19mm master cylinder, flushed and recoated gas tank, new electric fuel pump relocated to push from underneath the tank, new Tangerine stainless fuel line from tank to bulkhead, Optima battery, Blaupunkt radio, Fuch wheels, new Goodyear tires and new trim rubber and countless amount of labor hours (see pictures).

OEM fog lights, switch and grilles included although not installed.

Nice looking car with a lot of work put into it. Is the color then Canary Yellow (citronengelb aka lemon yellow) L11E?
Also, when you say a "massaged" 2.0 liter, do you mean rebuilt to stock 2.0 Liter spec's or something more? I am interested. Just want to know a bit more....'

BTW - all of the inside sheet metal received Dynamat before the carpet and interior were re-installed.....and the pedals were rebushed

I'm trying to find the receipt for the short block who was done by a fella named Tuttle. Apparently, he is a air cooled guru who is well known for his Type IV head work. Once found I put in all the particulars beyond new bearings, pistons, cylinders, machine work etc.... especially as it relates to the heads. If I recall correctly he likes the 1.7 head to work his magic....

1.7 heads massaged with the following;
41mm Intake valves
34mm Exhaust valves
2.0 liter crank & rods
2.0 liter pistons & cylinder with heads opened up to accept the jugs - case left alone
cam reground to work with Weber Carbs
8:1 compression
.020" line bore
new bearings throughout
case plugged

re-installed a couple of trunk compartment pieces....

Inspection set up tomorrow for a potential European buyer and overall a lot of interest in the car - Thanks 914world / Pelican

I thought I share - while putting together the paper work - I've assembled over $11K in receipts .............parts etc.......

NO LABOR CHARGES whatsoever...........

It seems that the more time I've invested in this, toward getting it where it is ..... the more $$$ lost based on the asking price...........

For all those considering an undertaking such as this..... bringing an old car back to life........
it might be a more prudent move to look for a situation such as this.... where someone has already gotten a car to this point, because trying to do it yourself based on my experience is losing proposition....... outside of my love for old Porsche cars.

I shouldn't have dug up all those receipts.........SIGH

wow. i just went thru this ad again. there's prob $1.2k in brake and suspension PARTS. any sort of cam and it's at 110hp i imagine. you sure did a nice job.
