Keep posting pictures of the build!

Is your tube chassis similar to the original 908 design?

I have a blueprint of a 906 with all the tubes.

It looks like it would be fun to build.

I have put the 2 914 back into storage and have goin back to work on my tube/908-3. Thanks for the input on my 914's. Randy

OK... I'm lost. We went through 3 pages of ugly "Will a 914 make a cool 908?" pictures and questions and all along you had a tube frame Subie version in the works?

And this was an exercise in... ??? confused24.gif

Why not just start out with; "Hey gang, here's a cool Subie powered 908/3 I'm building... follow along!" blink.gif

Thanks Fourblader, you can see the work over on LocostUSA.com under 908-3 Sti.

As for the trying to use the 914. It was just another way to look at.

And to the point of "there will be no sanctioning bodies that will allow it to race."
N.A.S.A. have looked over the plans and have said they will find a class for the car. Safety inspection by S.C.C.A. chassie is (per the plans) good to go but motor is to big= no class.

54 posts and you walk into the forum and mislead people, look for attention and then call Eric not cool.

You will fit in just fine.

Have you found the sandbox forum here....
That is the best place for insults.

Started with.
"Something got me thinking tonight?, Could a 908-3 body kit be made for a 914??"

Then.
".......or maybe we could stop trying to turn a 914 into another Porsche and just respect it for the PORSCHE IT IS."

So I gave up on the 914 donor. Went back to a old project.

And.

"54 posts and you walk into the forum and mislead people, look for attention and then call Eric not cool."

So,whats up with the "mislead people" ?

I have been trying to work out a 908-3 without spending $1.4 Mil.

http://blog.jameslist.com/2011/1970-targa-...o-porsche-9083/

"Why not just start out with; "Hey gang, here's a cool Subie powered 908/3 I'm building... follow along!" "

Because I felt that 914 mite be a good donor and I was not working on the tube chassis at that time.

I am sorry if I upset (Eric) but it was not cool.
For now I will stay with the tube 908-3 but here is a photo of the motor for one of my 914's. Think I built it up in 2007+-? for the 914GTSti.

Can't let them in my head. Like their was room . LOL

I will just keep working on the idea. I will not be using any of the old chassis .Have found some drawings of the 908-3 and will work from their.

I would love to have a "budget" 908-3.
One of my favorite all time Porsche racers.
Haven't figured how I would do it though.
Love your imagination....

I want one like this with a "built" six in it.
Same color scheme.

Thanks for the link. Making a 12 cyl. is not on my to-do list. But good for him ! The mold is going to almost kill me.

That "917" car has been in that state for at least the last five years. Zero progress as far as I can tell.

One of his final comments is:

"It looks like a 917 to me...."

Dream, yes that me and my mind.

But even if is not a "Real" 908-3, it still would be fun to go to a "car's and coffee" or a "car show" with something like this ? I will ( if I finish it ) do some track day's with it also.

Don't let people take your dream's from you. Very few of us will have the responsibility of owning a "ORIGINAL" . So,if you stay at it and work hard, you can do it !Then it will be "your original " I'm going to be 68 soon and this building of things keeps me going.

My many drive, is to make it a not- perfect remembrance of a 908-3. That's all.

P.S. Going to have 3 914's for sale and all the parts. Have titles to all but 2 are just parts. I will post them with a list. Time to move on from the 914GTSTI DREAM.

MOD's If this info needs to be moved let me know ?

Hi I just found this page today and this project. If anyone interested in a 908/3 replica body, look on my Google Drive at my project pictures.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1kLMlYwiK_...PWgUHt582FLmLoo

The CAD file has every body panels in different groups, and each of these groups have sections so to fit in a CNC router setup to mill.

I'm currently looking for great pictures of 908/3 frame to replicate it in CAD and match the 908/3 body. Then its go time.

Take care,
Simon

Randy,
I think you will find that there are many on this board with little if any imagination when it comes to building a car, especially with a 914.
Remember, if it's your dream, than it is your dream, it doesn't have to make sense to everyone. Dr. Porsche and his son Ferry could have gotten themselves hired by one of the bigger car companies like Mercedes-Benz, but they had a dream, and we are all better off because of their pursuit of that dream.
