I see them fail all the time, they usually crack either at the 90 degree bend or the firewall itself cracks near the spot welds.
This is *very* common!
While you are in there, add a bit of metal right at the 90 degree bend on the hing to give it a bit more strength in that area.
I am in the process of welding 2 new hinges on mine. IMO one hinge becomes weak and puts the other in a bind then both are in the same shape.I thought welding up the weak areas in them but decided to replace them both. I bought them years ago and saw them when I moved this past summer and damned if I can find them now
But I do have the area all prepped whenever I do find them
