A case of dyslexia, they put a 5 instead of a 2. smile.gif

even that wouldnt help. it should be a 4 right?
Chris H.
I think 2 is right. All 4's are 47 then x (year) 29 then xxxxx (the production number)

Shoot. I need to brush up on my VIN decoding.

For a 914-4, the VIN will be 47Y29XXXXX. 47 is the type number. Y is the model year: 0=1970, 6=1976. 29 means it was built by Karmann (all were). The last 5 digits is the serial number.

The '29' is supposed to mean that it was made at Karmann. The system seems to no longer be in use though. It wwould be cool if there was another factory that completed it, factory 59. smile.gif

Even in the US Army in Germany it was two BEERS for lunch. Beer was 15 cents a 1/2 liter. We're not talking Lite Beer either.

That might make it worth more, like misprinted currency!
