Cars: the red 914 belongs to Pat & Jan, the Audi in the background also belonged
to Pat & Jan, and the yellow 914 is Lindas' and mine.

I'll assume this was the 24 hours?

I was a freshman at Embry-Riddle back then and was at the 500, 24 hours and 200 bike race that year.

Do you have any more pictures showing the infield?

I had a 383 4 speed 68 Charger parked in the infield a couple hundred yards to the left of this picture.

EDIT: I take that back, it looks like you are near the NASCAR turn 3? We were in the center of the infield by Lake Loyd.

A couple of my college roommates knocked over a saw horse barrier and ended up in a car chase through the infield that ended up with us surrounded by cops with their guns out and the sherriffs helicopter over us!

I have never seen any pictures of the event, but plenty were being taken!

I was at that race too!

December 16, 1979. My first 914....1974 Marathon Blue 1.8 Ljet. This was our honeymoon mobile. The 914 was eventually sold to help with a downpayment on our first house. After a number of 914s over the years, my current 914 was painted Marathon Blue as well...but has a few more horse power LOL.
