Hi. I'm Nelson.
And I'm here to talk to you about my Porsche 914.
OK, ok, quitcher snickerin' I just thought I'd be nice.
Anyway, there are some rather unique things about my 914 which I'll show off in some posts here, and other things less-obvious that will have to be imagined since its in the engine.
To start with, here's my car at Rt66 in Flagstaff.

Here are the seats - original seats that were re-upholstered and bolstered a bit on the sides - not to mention a slot for the five hole, for you hockey fans:

And now a word or two about the engine. This was a 1987 3.2L /6 ... it remained so largely in the sense of the block alone. New pistons from JE Comp, cylinders from a donor (Nikisil upgrades), cams (from Dougherty Racing Cams), heads redone for twin-plug, 10.5:1 compression ratio, and PMO individual throttle bodies. AND it is still fuel injected! In fact, it's better than that - it's a Megasquirt digitally managed distributorless ignition FI custom tuned by Series9 (Joe O'Brien) who built it all in Florida over the past two years, from the ground up. OK, 'nuff talk, more pics of the engine:

Rods car has made lots of Mid-A events.
Even when its pouring down rain the entire time.
I'm pretty sure this was the first 914 I ever got a ride in. Gotta vote for it.

Pre-Father's Day bump
Some patterns are emerging on the poll results, but too early to call the result.
The competition among the nominees reminds me of the inimitable Murray Walker,
F1 motorsport commentator who stated "The lead car is absolutely unique, except for the one behind it which is identical.".
Each of these has a story, an owner and makes this a competitive month!

Man, the selection of cars for this month is excellent! They really represent the spirit of the 914; from it's original form to all the the shapes it can become. Very hard to choose a fave, but in the end, the basic starting point of a pristine 1.7, appearance group car gets my vote. Congrats to all for the skill and imagination required to keep your cars on the road in such fine condition.

WOW! Thanks for the votes! I've dreamed of owning a 914 since I was 14 or 15. Almost 2 decades later and I was finally able to make it happen. Keeping a 40 year old car in good shape and running can be a challenge but it is rewarding and I have found the 914 World community to be an invaluable resource for knowledge, parts and camaraderie.
I love these cars and its always nice to know your not the only one with this special kind of mental illness.
