i was wondering what is the first thing to look for
i do not have turn signals or brake lights.

wrong area to post these types of questions
fuses, bulbs are a good place to start...do you have a volt meter and a Haynes or similar manual?

I moved it to the main forum for you.
Do you not have rear turn signals or all four turn signals? Are the wires hooked up? Gotta start with the simple stuff.

check your fuses and ground connections ...

crappy grounds = weird/non op lights also
break out the wire brushes and WD-40
