What is the deal with all these cranks I have been seeing lately with the #3 bearing seizing??

I have one, my friend at work with a teener has one--he also has a '76 912 thats is not sounding right either?

I have seen a few others as of late------------

Is there an inherent problem in the case somewhere??????

What is the deal???????????????????????

I am getting

#3 always gets the hottest because it get less cooling air than any other cylinder.
it's not a big deal if everything is OK with your engine, but if you have a problem somewhere that makes the engine run hotter than intended, #3 will die first ...
