New 914 owner. I need to have seat inserts replaced and want to find out where I can buy the black stuff to match the pattern (stock) on the doors of a '74. Or as close as possible. Any Ideas?

Anyone know where (if any) to source the Plaid fabric found
in 75 and 76's? I'd love the to have my 74 signal orange
have a new kilt.

Well, I guess I will chime in on this since Dr. 914 has been mentioned. Automobile Atlanta also sells door panels and seat recovering kits.
Find the seat recovering here...Door panels can be found here...We currently have a 1976 white 914 with the red plaid material original to the car. It looks great in the car.
Take a look!!! The fabric is still available, but not on the cheap side.

I just bought new tan seat coverings to re-do my '73 seats from World...cost was about $257 for both seats...I've bought from them in the past and was very happy with the product...I should get the new coverings next week, I'll post pictures of the install, heard it takes about an hour for a newbie
new door panels coverings and a new backpad covering is $310 from World....that'll be next months project

Wow, the tan basketweave looks just like the oem stuff.
Mueller, pop for the leather seat kits! Damn, now I am really happy about the leather seats I bought!
There is a site in the UK that sells the trick plaid material but I can't find the site.

Good grief, I am gone for one week and come back to being called Hussey and my mug plastered all over this site.

I was afraid to ask about leather...besides I figured the price would have been double and I'm going over my budget (again) on this car already and that is just for cosmetics...
Hey Mike, nice meeting you as well...yes, I had to call WP for the prices

my car is far from original...as long as the material looks nice and is not too far off I'll be happy...I have not heard of anyone complaining and I know we have a few members here that have the WP interiors...

They are hard to find, but Here are the Prices
I'm tempted to try them out. I do want to learn to do it myself, but don't have the industrial sewing machine here yet. Looks like a good way to get my feet wet.
Thanks guys for all the leads!

Thanks for posting those prices. Are they just selling fabric and you have to sew it yourself or what? I have only seen carpet kits in the flesh so to speak.

Looks to me that they are selling sewn up kits that need to be glued/clipped on. Maybe a few hand stiches?

Hey Mark B,
Those are early gauges on that car, good catch. As documented by Dr 914 and the Porsche factory we have seen several of these LATE 76 models with the earlier style gauges installed. Porsche was running out of the so called black button centered gauges and found some of the earlier ones in stock so substituted them. Very strange but true.

Greg, if thats true why did my late 76 vin -4063 come with black center gauges??

Because the factory mixed them up please what is your entire id number? We have also seen seat heat seaming vs stitching and steel vs cardboard door panel sills and large vs small trunk rollers etc etc. The factory was just running out of parts!
Bleyseng
Dec 31 2004, 06:35 PM
the vin is 4762904063 and so far I know of 3 younger cars. Lets see, 4072, 4075 and 4081.
My car has cardboard doorpanels (tan), heat seamed seats, were small trunk rollers but I changed them, pretty much all the options for a 2.0L. I have removed the big rubber bumpers for early chrome ones. One strange thing, its rears shims are metal wedges instead of the flat plates if you can believe that. Got to change that soon.

Geoff,
You sure do! sounds dangerous! another thing we noticed are the bolted or riveted front top holders were interchanged in 76 some bolted into the front of the trunk some bolted!
