Waiting for the engine to be complete, I'm working on other projects. Can i install the shift linkage from the interior back to the firewall before I lift the engine in place or does the rod hanging out get in the way?

You can do that, the rod doesn't stick out far enough to get in the way.

If I recall correctly, you need to put in the shift rod before the engine.
I think I had to drop my engine mount bar after engine install because I couldnt get the bar in the tunnel.
