How about it? Who's coming through Albuquerque and when? I'd like to head out on Thursday, but am open to suggestions.
Who's coming from the NE? Wanna meet in Vegas to combine forces for the assault on So Cal?

I think Rich was planning on comming thru Vegas again this year with The Alien. I'm in for sure. We can probably count on Chris and his Nissan powered car. Maybe Steve will even have one of his teeners running by then.
Joe - are you driving or trailering your car?
If it turns out to be only you, Chris, Rich and I all driving our cars, we can do what should be a 4 - 5 hour drive in less than 3. Just think, combined we would have well over 1000 HP in our four 914's.

I'll have the wife, two friends, a Suburban and a trailer, but the 914 will be driven on the fun segments.
If you guys want to leave Vegas on Thursday, maybe we could come in on Wednesday night for a little
.
I'm getting excited. The doors will be back from paint on Sunday!

Do I-20 to Ft. Worth, 287 to Amarillo, then I-40 with the southern group. Once you get to ABQ, you'll have mechanical backup.

Here's the plan for anyone wishing to join the southern caravan:
We are leaving Albuquerque on Wednesday morning (20th) headed for Las Vegas. We'll be planning on lunch in Flagstaff and hope to pick up a couple more for the caravan.
We'll be leaving Vegas on Thursday morning after joining up with the NE group the night before.
Anyone wishing to arrive in Albuquerque on Tuesday night (19th) will be treated to free beer and grilled food at my house, as well as free lodging (we have lots of floor/couch space).
Please check in so we know you're coming. I know there have to be some from OK and TX.

By Thursday I will be chomping at the bit.
Chris - you are looking rather pale. I think you may have a fever too.
Perhaps we should rush you to a 'special doctor' in California.
Rich & Joe - you guys make the call on the schedule.

i might be coming from maryland with the 914, engine stuff is coming along nicely, i figure with a suby engine it would be like driving a newer car. the biggest concerns would be chassis, but most of those are easy to fix, the worst case thing would be a tranny cv problem but i will bring a spare cv.

I've got too many reasons not to go on Thursday...
1. had to pull strings to get into overlapping classes, tues & thurs. I miss an hour a week of a 3.5 hour class.
2. the extra cash to be out-of-town a whole day x2 'cause girls don't pay for crap.
3. the coed I wanted to bring
I can miss Mondays classes no problem.
So I'm a no go on Thursday.

Scott: you'd be making the longest trek. You'll be on the NE route and may (likely) be on your own until Ohio.
CptTripps: Looks like it's you and Scott until you can meet up with Rick.
Chris: That absolutely sucks! Please figure out another way. We want you with us for the assault on Ventura.
To Scott and Cpt: please take the chance. It's an adventure you won't regret. Once you hook up with another member, you'll have the mechanical back up you need.

okay i am tring to figure this out to be as safe and sure as possible. mapquest says its 40 hours of driving, i figure i am good for 24 hours with 4 hours of naps thrown in so in 1 day i can be about half way there. 914 rs you have a pm. i would not mind taking breaks at where ever i can meet up with someone. i would just need to get to their place 4 to 8 hours before they leave. but that adds lots of time to the trip.
so 914 rs when do you plan on leaving NM, if its wed, i could be there to leave with you but crash tues night. if it is tues pm i could still do it but i would be a zombie.
still planning this out but tring to make plans to meet up. check back for updates.

No faith in 914 you have.
I should have open driveway space, and a fully stocked Sears tool center in the garage
I also might have flat space and MIG available from a body shop friend, depends on his work load.
Did I ever tell you how I put together a completely stripped chassis in 28 days, then 2 days later did a flawless fun run in Socal... I miss not working...
Faith in my 914 I do have.
