as the description says where can you get them and what do you use. you buy the oil screen filter kit and it comes with the two gaskets and one crush ring not two.

for now I am using a neoprene washer as a gasket, I think I have read where some guys use copper washers. is that correct and if so size and where to get would be very helpful. I am trying hard to do things right to the point I bought a torque wrench that goes down to 5 lbs so I could avoid over torqueing the strainer nut.

Far in the past, there were 2 sealing rings per kit. Cheapness rules, and they've removed one of them. Mose folks don't remove the drain plug, I think, so the second ring isn't really necessary. I suppose I could contact my gasket guy and ask him if he has them in bulk. That's predicated, of course, demand for them. I have a $100 minimum order ..............

I don't bother to change the copper gasket (what's left) on my drain plug. I just put it back on. On the oil sump, I used the gaskets and copper washer as you describe.

The price is good, but they charge you freight (USPS Priority Mail) and the price break is at 50. If I bought a hundred for $30, add in the postage (about 8 bucks), and the outgoing postage to forum members, they'd be 88 cents apiece. Of course, that would go down for orders for more than one piece. If I can get enough orders for 10 per order, I can do this for $6.50 for 10, delivered. Sure, I make a little money, but it's not like it covers the hassle or anything.

Hey Cap'n - can you get the sump gaskets & seal and offer a complete kit for the lazy sob's like me? I would go for 10 kits.

Shipping 10 kits brings on more shipping costs. 4 bucks a set, plus whatever the postage is. That's maybe 43 bucks, delivered, including a buck for Mr. Paypal? The gaskets are the nice German ones, not those POS thin Sabo gaskets.

Anybody else just do the drain plug/washer and oil filter without the sump thingy? I've never cleaned out that strainer thing. Or replaced the gasket. It's big and scary looking, like it won't seal again. Am I going to air-cooled hell?? Save me, Cap'n!

I do the screen every time. There's apt to be glop and other nasty stuff on there, stuff you want to monitor.

These are not crush washers but they are exactly the right size and I've never had one leak. Been using them for years without a problem.

Havent looked at their www. On my phone. What I buy across the counter is exactly what's in the strainer bag. Zims that is. Call em on Monday for a chat. Nice people.

I never could understand why when one purchases something like 10 little crush washers, why the vendor just doesn't mail them in a small padded envelope USPS First Class Mail for about $2.00, instead of a box loaded with packing material for $9.95

Actually, if you include a paper sheet of printed instruction with them, you could mail it via USPS Media Mail for about a buck

Might work OK for the drain plug, but 11ft/lbs of torque isn't gonna do diddly to make that washer seal on the sump cover.
