Yeah, 55 is a bit too low. I have 195-55-15 on my red car. Although I really like them, they're dangerously close to hitting things underneath the car. Sticking with 60 height.

Are both cars set to the same height? I've dropped mine at least 1.25" from stock with 195/60-15 and going lower would be no problem, even with my LE lip. There is 9.75 mm difference in sidewall height with 195/60 vs 195/55. I'd be more concerned about additional engine revs due to the smaller diameter tire than hitting.

FYI.... years ago, we tried 195/45-15s on Betty's car. They were great AX tires, and they pulled well down low.

But they were god awful on the street. Her car would push a beer can laying down on its side, any parking lot with speed bumps was impossible, and trying to run at any speed on the freeway would result in overheating due to the continuous engine revs.

205/50-15s work great on the car.

I've never been accused of changing parts before the end of their use full life.

I'll buy some more soon.

Okay ripper, you install my fuel pump and I install tires for you. chowtime.gif beer3.gif

I have become accustomed to the 205-60 R15 tire size on my car. I really did like the 195-55 R15 on my other car with a lower profile, but I think I like the fatter look more now it being a vintage car. The OG 65 height is a bit too high I think when traveling at high speeds.

However, in the front I am getting tire rub inside my wheel well. It's worn off a small spot of paint on the inside. I am not sure what size spacer I should put in there. Maybe 1/4"? Anybody else running 205s with spacers in the front?

Also thinking to put a spacer in the back to fill the wheel well a hair more (nothing extreme) to even them out since there seems to be more room in the rear running the same tire. Should I use the same size spacer or slightly larger? How will that affect the handling? I know on older VW Sciroccos, GTIs, etc. it affects them greatly.

I started this thread a year ago. Some of the tires suggested are no longer available. What do you guys like for good sticky performance tires now? The Goodyear Eagle Sport seems to be common as there's not much available for a 15" wheel anymore.

Even moreso, I have to find good performance tires for a 14" wheel now (185-60 R14). Anybody running a 14" tire on anything?

I ended up buying (and I love them) Yokohama AVID Envigor 205/65 x 15. There is no rear rub, body is close, not too close. I have some inside rub on tight turns up front. I was going to run 1/4" spacers in the front, but I'm going five lug soon, so I'll wait to see how that all fleshes out. I'm using these tires on my 6 x 15 Fuchs.

Keeping me from getting stuck right now.
With a plow of course.

Yokohama S-Drive P205-50-15 on Mahle 4 lug wheels perfect fit, lowers the height. Also will cause the Speedometer to read 90 when going 60 which will scare the heck out of the person in the passengers seat if you point it out to them while taking a hair pin turn.

Running 195/65 on 14" 5 lug fuchs. Tires are kumho . Also put kumho ' I n my Audi TT which is a 17"x7.5" rim. They seem to have a good variety of sizes. They feel same as the Yokohama that I took off and were almost half the price.

Which model Kumho (and Yokohama) tires for 14" wheels? Would like to research them on Tire Rack. Thanks!
