I bought my 914-6 oil tank and line years ago from Rich Johnson. Included were all the bits and a number of hoses... namely the hoses from the bottom of the tank to the engine oil cooler.

Also included was the longer 901.107.331.12.

I see this is a 911 part. But I assume that under normal circumstances (without an external cooler) this could be used to go from the tank (bottom right fitting, through the engine shelf) to the oil return on the underside of the engine case?

Althgough I'd be worried about that rubber line next to the headers.

Looks like Eric Shea has used these for the front-mounted GT oil cooler. Since I'm using a Setrab cooler with AN fittings, I will be making my own lines back to the the engine under the driver's rocker.

Does the intended use of this line seem right, or am I missing a use for this line?

If you can keep it from touching the HEs or Headers you are probably ok. I suppose you could add a "fire sleeve" to the line for protection. The original line was steel.

On the conversions I have done I always route the lines away from the HEs / Headers whether they are steel, SS or rubber.

I dont think I can use it anyways. The fitting on the tank side of the hose is correct. But I need to place my Mocal thermostat down there under the engine shelf (Driver's side). The Mocal has -12 fittings.

Patrick has a hard 30mm to AN12 adapter for the tank fitting. I can then run some aeroquip and 12AN to the thermostat. And run the other line from the thermostat to the bottom of the engine.

Patrick Motorsports makes a hard line that attaches to the engine case that terminates to an AN fitting. I can make my own line for the rest of the way.

Or I can use two 30MM (inverted) to 12AN adapters (one on the tank and one on the engine) and then just make my own 12AN lines from the engine to the thermostat and from the thermostat to the tank.
