Pulled out all the old hoses this weekend, and I don't think there was a single one that wouldn't have leaked like crazy. It's a wonder the thing ran at all.

Maybe I'm suffering from a bout of surf fu flu, but I'm having a lot of trouble nailing down the proper sizes of each of the vacuum lines. I see some drawings referring to 4mm, 5mm, 8mm, and 13mm, while it looks to me like the PET calls out 3.5mm, 4mm and 12mm ID hose. Anyone who's replaced these recently remember what sizes you bought and how much of each? Unfortunately, my car doesn't look original enough to be able to just measure what was there before. There was definitively some creative routing involved, including some home-made splices between two different sizes.

Also, there are 3 or 4 90 degree elbows that are quickly returning to their natural gooey dinosaur state that I can't seem to find at any of my usual parts suppliers. Source?

Measure the nipples, the tubing is 1mm smaller, 0.5mm smaller for the very smallest size(s).

Try Bus Depot for the elbows.

The PET sizes are correct. The red hose is NLA. Jonathan at GPR has been my source for the green. I have the plain 12mm vacuum elbows in limited quantity.
I also have 4 NLA intake runner hoses, if you're a CW .........................

Thanks, guys. I'll take a look at your suggestions.

Another question: I see most of the vacuum diagrams only showing a single connection to the distributor, but my car had both the advance and retard sides hooked up. One side was going to a home-made connection between the aux air switch and the throttle body (I think). Does this sound reasonable?

There are just too many variations in vacuum systems...

Your car uses one vacuum line from the back (or top) of the throttle body to the advance side of the distributor vacuum can, and one slightly larger like from the side of the throttle body to the backside (retard) side of the can. The larger port is between the TB and the #2 intake runner, and it's a little tough to get to. The vacuum line tee between the AAR and the plenum goes to the decel valve.

Thanks, Cap'n. Things are getting clearer, though I'd have never figured this out just looking at what was there to start. The last person to mess with this used quite a bit of creative license blink.gif
