Hello, we are in the process of doing a full restoration on a rescued (sitting in mud since 1989) all original, 1973 Porsche 914S 2.0 - Delphi Green Metallic.

Currently we are removing the complete wiring harness and am having trouble feeding the rear harness thru the rear chassis tube and firewall.

Do I need to remove the corresponding connectors from the fuse box and then feed the harness out the back? I thought it possible to leave all fuse box connections in place and feed the engine harness through the firewall to the cabin.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

everything can be pulled into the pass cabin without having to remove the fuse panel. About the only parts you need to remove/reinstall are some of the large connectors I.E. the headlights, and multi terminals. I don't have any real info other than feed the smaller half through first rather than try and feed all at once

Thanks for the response. The front was no issue but more focused on the rear portion and techniques to get the rear portion thru the firewall.

PS:

Remove the 14-pin relay board connector housing, the fuel pump connector housing and the oil temp sender wire connector housing. Lube up the rubber snorkel tube grommet good...use KY jelly or glycerin, they clean up easily without leaving a residue.

No need to cut anything.

It is a pain but it can be done...
