If anything gets past all that...I'd tip my hat to it, and then set the car on fire and walk away.

I'm pretty laid back like that...

Ok, final post for a few weeks.

I just put the final FINAL coat of Herculiner on and must admit that it's going to be pretty sweet. Not neerly as 'rough' as I'd imagined...and that's a good thing. It hides enough of the welds to make me happy, but it doesn't look rusted out at all. Just looks like it was suppossed to be in there. I imagine it'll be even nicer if I'm able to prime/paint it with the rest of the car. I'm not going to, but I'll bet it'd hold water when I'm done. Sealed up nice and tight. Time will tell though.

The first coats have dried enough that I can tell it's going to dampen the road noise quite a bit. I just did a couple of taps on the undercarrage before, and then again a few min ago and it's not as drastic as 1/8" of Dynamat, it's darn close. I'm pleased so far...we'll see what we have next week when I get back though.

I'm off to the mountains...

I'm about to catch my flight home and can hardly wait to see how it's all turned out!

I'll just be happy to be able to drop the car to the ground again to get the tires off and start on body/brakes!

My floor thread is almost over....I can hardly wait! (oops....already said that!)

Awesome, just an awesome thread. This should definitely be a candidate for the archives!

So here's what she looks like when I get home...exactly like I left her. Only dry!

I realized that I don't have any 'underbelly' shots. Here's one from before I wire-brushed the welds and added the undercoating.

They put that stuff on at the factory you know...
(Bonus points for knowing where that quote came from.)

Added the Weltmeister short-shift it just to see how it'll play out later. I ended up welding an extension on it. I'll take pics of that later.

Overall I'm very pleased with the results. Would I do the Herculiner again? Maybe. I'll see what happens when I prime/paint it. This is either going to be awesome, or a disaster. Time will tell.

It's RUGGED AS HELL right now, and I'll just bet I could filll the tub with water and it'd just sit there. I like the fact that if something DOES get wet, it won't erode into something. The sound dampening is real nice too.

I was worried about a possible residule odor on hot summer days, but there doens't appear to be any odor at all. The surface is a little rougher than I'd expected, but I think that'll help hold the carpet in place better too. Speaking of carpet...ordered a grey plush set from morphenspectra. I'll take pics of that install too...
