Topic title says it all. I have no flares,I'm going to install ATS classic wheels and I was wondering what size tires will fit. I want to go with 195/60-15's. What tires are you guys using? Thanks in advance for any input. Best I can tell the offset of the ATS classics is the same as the stock wheels I'm taking off so any input is appreciated.

195/65-15 would actually be the closest to the original fitment tire diameter if that matters to you.

I'd check with Tire Rack to see who makes the tires in the size you'd like as 15" sizes are getting fewer and fewer in number when you're looking for performance tires.

I purchased new tires today for the new 73 I just bought. I did some research on this with Discount Tire and Tire Rack.

Went with 195/65/15 Yokohama AVID Ascend (T-Speed Rated) Standard Touring All-Season. Yokohama has a rebate cash card with dropped it down $60.00. Under $400.00 fully installed with lifetime balance.

These are fairly new for Yokohama and are asymmetrical tires (No worries about snow here in Texas). For the green crowd, these are said to be made of orange peel oil, which is more earth friendly. :confused

Not sure if these are the best choice. After looking at all the options, I was zoning out.

Aren't ATS Classics 15x7 wheels? If so, wouldn't the wheel be pushed out further in the wheel well if it is the same backspace as 15x5.5 "stock" wheels?

I wish they were 15X7, they're 15X5.5

+1 on the 195 65 15. Good all around for a narrow driver. More meat on the road than stock tires.

I'm running Hankook Optimo's on both the teener and my truck.

205/65s fit on stock Fuchs 2.0 wheels and fill the wheel wells nicely IMHO.

They will rub a bit on real hard turning (mostly parking) on the inside fronts. I bought the Yokohama Avids too. Great grip.

I used to have 185-65-15 on mine during my first ownership, and they fit well. Bought the car back a few years ago with 215-60-15 on the rear, and 195-55-15 on the front

I had a set of ATS 15 x 5.5 on my 76 914 for several years. I had 185/70 Pirelli tires. Good looking wheel, but with offset probably more suitable for a Beetle. The rear is the limiting factor as there was almost no clearance on the outside to the fender, which was not stretched or rolled. I am not sure if a 195 tire would have fit my car.

205 / 55 R 15, no rubbing, fills the wheel well, not too short.
Not too expensive. Look at current Dunlop Direzza
