I have acquired a set of first generation flares and thought I would do a comparison to the green and black flares.

Green Flare Date Range- 1988 to 1990
Black Flare Date Range- 1998 to 2001

I put a caliper on all 3 of them in random place and found no appreciable difference.
there might be another type, I recall seeing cream colored sets.

This set came from Kerry Morse's old company GTS Motorsport.
They were still lightly oiled, but surface rust has taken hold.

Wow, congrats! You've must have bought these years ago.

As I've not heard of Kerry's name mentioned in a long time. Anyone know what's he up to. .
In Florida? Thanks

I saw a set of the cream primer flares years ago. My set of blacks dated 07/30/98 and I wonder if that date is when they were pulled off the shelf in Germany when they were ordered?

Are those the ones that went on your beautiful yellow car?

My light green set is dated 1993. And the added/delivery sticker 1994
At one time I had a set of AA flares and compared metal thickness.
Same.
Didn't they claim at one time that they were heavier ?
Also, way back......I handled a set that were bare metal. I passed on them because they were a bit crude and I couldn't believe they were factory parts. No markings at all.
Now I see that they were probably real.

Not the same thickness....of course AA's can vary due to metal purchased..between runs
Not as crude as AA's

Hi, possibly a dumb question (from the man with alloy wing and arches blink.gif ), so apologies in advance

Whats the width of arch wheel lip and does it vary in width around the circumference? How does it compare to AA? I thought that that the OEM lip was much smaller than AA (you can't quite see it properly in Andy's pictures and looks smaller to me) and was the only give away once properly fitted and painted on a car

If true, knowing the OEM dims would be useful to anyone wanting to modify AA arches to be as close to original as possible, as one day soon all OEM arches will be truly unobtainum and finding a set even now is very hard

That is until Porsche Classic start stamping them again, as let's face it the tooling cannot be that worn biggrin.gif - fingers and toes crossed. Or they start to buy AA, tweak, and start selling as their own shades.gif
