I got it back together enough to get it running yesterday.
Had a few problems, leaky gas line fitting and it wouldn't turn over. Gas line fitting was fixed quickly but the starter had me going for awhile. It seems my stater relay needed to be grounded to the car. I have it mounted on the bar with clamps that have rubber insolators on them. I had to run a seperate ground wire but it started right up.

It is seems very low...
URY914
I drove it down the street a few times but didn't really get in to it. It was like a big go cart.
URY914
I had to add the baffle to the exhaust stinger. Its kinda loud... happy11.gif

BTW, Ya ever get that crown moulding to fit?

SpecialK

Yikes!!! I'd probably add a x-brace or two, very small dia cro-mo tubing at the trans mount points. I remember the old Wayne Baker car (#22) had to have some extra braces and a few gusets too at the back end mainly due to the wipping effect of the engine-tranny combo as that is a huge pendelum in the middle of the car!!

Kitchen crown has taken a backseat to this thing for now. I made the wife real happy with that one. But after I get it weighed next weekend, it back to the miter saw.

I'm going to wait and see what happens before I start adding anything to it. I won't be developing the G's that a road race car would so I think I'm alright.

Paul,
This is probably a silly question, but why are going to keep the engine cooler on the back? With the car apart, I thought that you may bring it to the front and plumb it.

Keep it in the back. Shorter hose run = lighter. Also cooling is never really a problem.

I figured you had a good reason.
The road racer in me keeps wanting to put that car on the track. I know Auto-A is a different strategy.
It looks great by the way.
URY914
I'm thinking maybe I need to add a big ass wing to the main hoop to get a little downforce. Whata thinK?
smg914
Hey Paul, I know how you can reduce the weight by about 100 pounds; let me drive the car instead of you smilie_pokal.gif

Steve, I was waiting for you to comment on it. It must KILL you to see a 914 like this, being that you're Mr. NOS.

Thank God the car gets weighed w/o the driver biggrin.gif

When you doing a V8 conversion? Hehehe.
Mike T
I really look forward for your posts Paul. That looks most cool. aktion035.gif

I'm picturing it with a V8 and 12" slicks...

looks like Bridgehampton

i miss the bridge wub.gif

Look for a wing from some of the dirt sprint car guys. They always have some huge wings that you could use.
smg914
Paul,

When you go to an autocross at Zephyrhills with your 914 and get FTD, I will have nothing but respect for what you've done with your car. I do find it amazing what you have been able to do with your car.

BTW, Suncoast Region PCA is working hard at getting our site at MacDill AFB back for our autocross track. It's probably not going to happen real soon but it is a good possibility it could happen sometime in the future.
red914
Dude, you can't post too many pics of that kewl machine of yours! wub.gif what are the details on the motor as it is? and are you getting a MASSIVE IV RAT motor? more pics!!!!!!

i would be unhappily single and homeless if i were to try anything so bold with my teener. let us all live vicariously though you!

I'll get FTD when Danny Shields desides not to run. sad.gif

And as far as MacDill, it is the best site in the state, no question. 100 arces of 60 year old concrete. driving.gif

The current motor is a very tired 1.7 with a NPR slip in big bore kit, big bore heads, 44 Webers, Engle cam, counterweighted crank. I figure is making about 110 HP because compression is down due to all the miles I have on it.

The MASSIVE motor was dyno'd at 180hp. w00t.gif

If I was to do it again, I wouldn't. Didn't really cost a lot but just too much work. Hours and hours and hours. Don't get me wrong, I like it but I'm glad it is nearly done. beer.gif

I've got an autox this month and I won't have the targa bar done in f/g yet so I'll HAVE to run it naked. (I mean the car).

It can always go faster if I just change this or this or this...

Hi Paul,

That is very cool! You are giving me some reinforcement and inspiration for my bad ideas. If that were mine, I would be figuring out how to make a very fat Ghia body fit it right now.

Thanks, John www.ghiaspecialties.com
