I just finished splitting my 2.0 case and the main bearing is marked .25mm. I am assuming that this indicates the crank has been turned. If so is this a lot or just a clean up grind? I very new to the Vw type engine.

That is 0.010 undersize, the first cut. The second cut would be 0.50 mm or 0.020 under.

At 10 under you are not really into the soft metal as yet supposedly.

Hopefully you can find bearings.
