Does anyone know where I can find a set up like this one? It is a custom car advertised in Canepa's collection. I am really interested in the centered le mans style gas cap and through hood look that this car sports...

Nice installation. The flush fit looks more polished. smile.gif smile.gif

"A little known fact is that there is actually a relieved place in the hood interstructure where the factory had planned to put the fuel door! Look at your own 914 and see"

Nuther: Look underneath the trunk lid at the back. The metalwork for the door is in place

You had also inquired about a fuel cell.
I think this one fits and it's cost effective.

I don't believe that cell has a bladder or foam
if the point of a cell is for racing, no racing organizations will accept one without a bladder and foam

Looks familiar... smile.gif

But I can't believe the number of comments that I have received complaining that I ruined the clean lines of the hood.

I agree, looks factory.

On another note, what did you use to cut the hood?

A few years ago, Eric Shea & I went in and had some made. He might one or two left. The ones I have left, I am saving

Agreed...I had looked into that tank also and it does NOT include a bladder.

I want to also put the gas fill through the hood...gotta figure out how now once I get the cell in.... But a question I've always had: how is everyone sealing it so water does not enter into front compartment past the cap? In the first couple pictures, where does the water go that makes it by the gap around the cap? I really like Geezer and somd's versions, but I do have a set up similar to the one in TC's picture sitting on my shelf, far left one with the riser...just no 'handle' on the top of the cap. Just don't know how to keep water out.

FYI, I am working on being able to sell a true, Fuel Safe built, fully compliant fuel cell that will fit in the stock tank location and hold potentially 16 gallons (I should know exact in a week or so and have more details). It's designed by 914 owner Mike Phillips and Fuel Safe. The Patrick MSP one holds only 10 gallons, but that won't work for me or anyone that runs enduro races. Unfortunately, it won't be cheap, but it may be an alternative for some.

there was a thread a few years back documenting this mod. IIRC they used some kind of catch funnel with a larger diameter than the hole in the hood to direct water away/down and out of the tank area

not sure how to link a thread but search for a Ron S thread about a GT type fuel filler or something along those lines
