Hello I am new here are you can see in my visual profile
9fourteen14.blogspot.com

I have searched for more information on 1974 2.0H 914 rear window rubber.
Does anyone have the details on replacing the rear window rubber?

Have owned 74 914 for 5 days now. reviewing every detail for the vehicle.
making a list of the good(things that work) and bad(things that need attention) things.
the vehicle is in the northeast and last night rained really bad. I discovered the
vehicle leaks. front driver floor and rear passenger very wet.

The rear window rubber really needs to be replaced (I am sure this is causing most
of the water on the floor.) In the past 25yrs I do know this vehicle has been kept inside.

so please send me some information on how to replace the rear window rubber. would really appreciate this so much. 9fourteen14@gmail.com

BTW: I did see and printed the article in the how to 914INFO here... has anyone used it?
what is the install level of expertise... It seems straight forward and relatively simple.

any comments here or on blog or just email will be very helpful. WHILE I WAIT to get registered.

The only rubber seal is the one between the window and engine lid. The glass is held in and sealed by the butyl tape that Eric speaks of in his excellent write up
EdwardBlume
Water is usually from the butyl tape seal getting old and not adhering. You can get that from your local auto parts store -3M.

WOW y'all are awesome.... I really appreciate your immediate responses.

so it sounds like I do not have to remove the rear window in order to correct this.
sounds like i have to remove the rubber and buytl tape and just replace
with the engine deck lid rubber and seal it with the buytl tape
I just ordered from 914rubber.

am I correct?

No. You must remove the glass. Read Eric's thread carefully.
