My hell hole appears to be a double layer that is a partial sleeve off the inside of the longitudinal. My replacement part from RD appears to be a 16 gauge replacement. Can somebody send me a link to an "open heart surgery of that area...so I can decide how to repair mine please? My sides are ok, it is the top under the battery that has suffered. Looking for a very detailed thread to get some answers.

Thanks...

Look in the project forum, loads of great pictures to rebuild that area.
It's a dedicated forum at the top level of the site.

Lars,

Here's a few links that I've looked over. There's a few more but can't locate them right now.

Here's some pics from the work I did on my car. This is the outer right side open.

Here's some from the engine bay side. Open both outer and inner

Here final with the inner & outer closed off. I saved the inner quarter for last, but it wouldn't be necessary to do that.

Thanks guys. Now that I figured out the inner reinforcement that the factory provided...and the difference in the replacement steel available, I can come up with a game plan. I will want to provide a reinforcement for sure.
