I hope Forrest has Hagerty insurance! Hagerty reimbursed me around $280 on my windshield damaged from a rock came from a big trailer.

You early-birds were up and gone by the time I got up dry.gif

Ran up to Chino Valley to visit an old high school friend, then got back to Payson about 4:30PM

Had fun at the banquet, nice to see everybody again (as well as meeting some old-time members in person for the first time) cool_shades.gif

Rosebud, as the car is called, performed like a champ. My first lengthy cruise in the car and is was a blast. The 2.7L /6 pulled every grade I came across without skipping a beat. Heater and defroster worked great which was a bonus given the weather we encountered.

PS: The car is getting a slight overhaul this Summer. I am backdating the bumpers and a few other items and then putting it up for sale. Here is the photo that was used in the 2016 calendar.

Same for me. When I left Saturday night dinner, it down poured on me all the way home. And the darkness didn't help either, it was scary. My front trunk was dry, and the rear had very little moisture. This was the first drive in rain for the 914 since i bought it 7 yrs ago. So now I have to look where it is leaking.

Just wondering for those who where at the route 66 and does not have their rain tray, any feedback or trouble when too much water went in the engine bay? for F.I. and for carbs?

Thank you!
Coondog
You need to contact Forrest, he made a cover from a Home Depot cement mixing tray.
He didn't have any problems.

I didn't see or hear of any issues.

Hi Noel,

I have a GT style grille and am running a 2.7L /6 with CIS.

I had no problems with rain affecting the electrical system at all. The only difference I have done on my airbox is an added "snorkel" that tucks under the engine bay near the rear firewall so I am not sucking in wet air. The air filter would have stopped it but then I would have a wet air filter.

Truthfully - I think I was lucky as we hit A LOT OF RAIN at one point in New Mexico.

no rain tray on mine
double GT style grill
stock Djet
no covers or extra effort of any kind on mine

I thought... I was getting wet contacts on the regulator/panel
turns out my regulator was just loose and needed to be seated better

but no rain problems in the engine bay
(unfortunately both trunks and interior are all full of water, but that's a different story)

Thanks for all the responsed! Mike, Coondog and Brant!

No rain tray on my 3.2. I have a cone-type AEM air filter and put a water-repellant breather cover over it before my trip. I was concerned with covering the grill while parked and had the umbrella cover on the first couple of days, but MOVQIK pointed out that my air filter and distrib etc are under the 'non-grill' portion of my cover.

Anyways, no problems.
