Ok, some of you know the 91 west, just past Corona? Green River I think. In the morning it runs along pretty good until you get close to there. I was on my way to work in my 1985 F-250 4X4 diesel. 38" Dick Cepek's and a 10" lift. So I could see very well. A chick in a Benz cuts in front of me and starts digging in her purse.

I can see over her that the brake lights were starting to come on and the traffic was starting to gather. So I let off the throttle and tapped the brakes to let the people behind me know what was up. Just then the chick in the Benz looked up from her purse, saw the brake lights (100 yards ahead) and I guess she thought she was closer, she slammed on the binders.

Now if you have never driven a Benz they have brakes like our cars and stop on a dime. Where as an F-250 with materials and tools in the back does not.

I wish I had a picture of this for you but I wasn't thinking to clear afterwords so I'll do my best to paint a picture...Ever seen Bigfoot crush a car? My rear tires where on her trunk, fronts on her hood. It might have been fun if the car was a little lower and unoccupied. She was fine but I was beat up a bit, wrong safety harness for that.

1991 I was 16, first car was a 87 Tempo "sport" LOL lady applying makup in a blazer rear ended me, can't believe they didn't total it.

1991 still 16, got my first new Demo (Dad is/was a dealer) Escort GT, slid off our wooded twisty driveway on wet leaves, down into the ravine, no damage but big tow bill.

1991 yes still 16, same Escort GT horsing around in the snow high school parking lot, lost it and hit the curb hard enough to go airborn and crack the wheel, bend the tie rod and lower suspension. Drove it 18miles with it so far out of toe it ate up half my tire tread, and paid a friend in service to fix it before Dad found out.

1993 Ranger 4x4 decided to see how much "air" I could get over a rather notorious set of train tracks. Ended up bottoming and blowing the front shocks upon landing as well as breaking both inner fenders. Another secret trip to my friend in parts and service.

1997 new jeep wrangler demo, took a dare and decided to cross the river behind the house, Started floating downstream, opened doors allowed water in to sink it to get tires on riverbed, and drove out with water all around my feet. Carpet never looked right after that biggrin.gif luckily no other damage.

That's it for me so far, knock on wood.

Built a nice hotrod 88 fiero back in high school. 2 years to build and 6 months to total. I was upstate racing thru some twisty back country mountain roads and flew off the road and down maybe 50 feet and smashed thru 3 trees along the way. Car was hung up on trees and didn't even end up on the ground when stopped.

Then I kinda smashed the front of my 914 which is no secret. I was doing a little drifitn on the entrance to the highway and got a little out of control and hit a light pole.

Oh boy... I will try to put this in order:

Yamaha RD400-lost to a slurry and graveled corner in Whiittier on Turnbull

VW Scirrocco- lost in a ditch on Turnbull to a positive to negative camber turn going down hill, instant oversteer.

Chevy C10- 5 MPH rollover, while rock climbing

(All of these were before I was 18)

Honda XR400- San Filipe, huge rock under sand, I was out cold for 30 minutes on that one.

Volvo Turbo- Lost when an irrigation truck blew a light and t-boned me, Luckily I was in a Volvo cage, only thing other than soreness was a broken nose from a 1"PVC pipe coming through the window.

F150 Lightning Prerunner- More times than I can remember, but that is why it was all 'glass and a stock 1 day paint color

Other than that...I'm good <!-- emo&:lol: -->IPB Image<!-- endemo -->

I lived off of Turnbull for years, but I never left a car there. Came close a couple of times on my motorcycle though.

I got the full steel doors on my Jeep... nice to have a roll-down window in the winter.

But the doors come off in the spring and stay off all summer. I use the wet-dry vac to get the rain out.

Wow! Never really thought about this before. I've never done more than mild damage to car.

All the years of drag racing MoPars - no incidents.

All the years of auto-xing - no incidents, other than the broken front sway bar on my 924 that sailed the car into a curb - two bent wheels & some suspension mods.

After 46 years of daily driving - no incidents (well, there was that one in '71 when I rear-ended a Trans Am in my Beatle. I hade to unscrew a fender - did nothing to him, so it doesn't count.

Ok, maybe I did have a few incidents, but none were reported.

Last speeding ticket - 1982. In my 914. Given to me in my driveway by the Kentucky State Police. "Really nice car" he said, as he wrote the ticket. "I have one of these too". We bonded. Made the ticket a warning. Ain't life coolo sometimes?

Nothing since, though it should have happened.

This is how you total a BMW--(1)park on steep driveway (2)don't put it in gear (3)walk into house (4)listen for crash. The car was totaled due to undercarriage damage as it rolled over a retaining wall.

This was my wife's "kill" (but it was my car).

So far I haven't managed to total anything in 25yrs of driving. Had a couple people run into me, but it has always been minor...

First three in Denmark, my birth country and home for the first 50% of my life.

First one not me driving. Age 6, around 1970, my mother manages to roll a Fiat 600 or 800 (rear engine, very small) on the freeway. Our dog, a collie, bolters out the front window, find her later, all is fine, no idea what happened to the car.

Second one, age 18, borrow my mothers VW1302, giving a hot girl from the gym a ride home, fresh snow, feeling sassy, spin and park the right rear fender into a telephone pole. Told parents car was hit while parked.

Third one, age 20 I think, coming home late one evening from a girlfriends in my dads company car (Rover 2600) - blind 90 degree right hander to a T intersection, didn't manage to stop in time, hit a stone ditch with right front corner, car NOT very straight, likely totalled, never saw it again.

Came to Cali in '86.

Probably 1990, rooming with a friend in West LA, his friend visiting him after either some AX or other with his sweet white 914. Let's me drive it around the block, sweet, gets it loose in a turn (Sepulveda North right on Pearl I think, under the bridge 405 FRWY). In stead of getting off the gas I stay on, arse goes left, right, left, then right and car goes sideways over a 1' curb and and hits a steel post right behind door hinges. I had to buy the guy a new 914 tub (good thing back then they were still easy to find he he).

At least none of the cars have been mine, I need to get a life!!!!!!!!!

He should have put you in the tub when he took it to the crusher

Well that definitely gets the 'picture of the week' award!

So how many crashed 914's does that make so far?

I killed my 73 914 back in the winter of 1987. It is the only car I have totaled.

I just loved cruising this long, twisty road that cuts thru a forest between Medford & Winchester, MA (and I still do). It is just a real nice, quick scenic ride that cuts thru the woods.

Only problem with these roads in the winter is the sun doesn't hit them thru all the trees to warm them up. They tend to stay a little icy.

I came into a corner, realized too late that it was a sheet of ice slap.gif and slid off the road into the trees. A whole bunch of pine & oak trees.

I am still amazed how well the car took the impact.

Oh, I forgot one. In HS I was driving my girlfriend home in my parents stationwagon. She was giving me a BJ, in the moment, I must have closed my eyes, I drifted off the road and hit a row of mailboxs. Fortunately my girlfriends teeth stayed recessed. Car was not totalled, but my parents were pissed. I spent the rest of that summer paying for the damage. My Mom stills brings the subject up every once in awhile. If only she knew about the spouge on the dashboard.

30 years later, that girlfriend is still an occasional sex-toy.

Suzuki 125- several off road incidents =chronic shoulder dislocation and a broken leg.
Honda 500/4- hit a deer @70mph-lost everything but the helmet, 1 shoe and thankfully my underwear.
'69 VW beetle-bitch pulled out in a parking lot, I was only doing about 40mph. car had just been painted.
'74 Porsche 914-near head-on with a fellow who had been out celebrating his 16th birthday, funny thing was it was also my birthday-19th - I hadn't been drinking.
'75 Fiat 128 sport coupe-9 months post hurricaine frederick, tree had been cutdown and left roadside. Ins company listed it a storm related. I call it crazy-stupid college weekend. drunk.gif
early '80s Nissan station wagon-my moms' car, had the in-line 6, rear ended by a fellow who was passing on a hill.
'92 volvo 240-rear ended by driver who had dropped a cigarette. really didn't do much damage considering the 45+mph impact-those cars are tanks.
'87 Porsche 944S- new tires, going really tooo fast, spun off and backed into a ditch.
