I have a 2.7 /6 and I have never used points. I have always had some sort of electronic ignition. I have a new set of point and would like to install it. How do I do it? I know how to set the gap and dwell. What wires do I hook to the black wire coming from the points?

I know this is a super simple question, I just have no experience here.

Ignition +12VDC (from the key) goes to Coil + (POS).

Coil - (NEG) goes to the points (usually the green wire).
Coil - (NEG) is also where the TACH wire goes (purple black?)

It's a little different with a six, as they use CD ignition, with the points providing a low voltage trigger signal.

The points should be hooked to the black wire coming out of the harness. No condenser. Just the points.

I would suggest that you look into a pertronics for the early 911. It will fit your distributor, and it will last forever, unlike points.

You really should run a high output CD box, whether the factory CDI or MSD, mallory Hi-fire, etc.

The six with it's higher domed, often higher CR pistons really needs help in the fire department.
