Full Version: how to align the steering column/wheel with the rack?

I took the front end out to rebuild it and also took the "lower" part of the steering column off.

Now that everything is rebuild and sparkly, how do a realign the steering wheel with the steering rack?

The front suspension, cross member, wheel sect are still off the car.

Center the steering rack so both tie rod ends are equal. Use a ruler or tape measure; just trying to get close here.

Then, center the steering wheel in the car.

Connect the rack to the wheel.

Take the car to an alignment shop to adjust the toe in....done
