Did the 914-S badge ever really exist [This has probably been asked before ]

Some members have said that some 914 dealers back-in-the-day did make some up from a 911-S + 914 badge, but I've never seen them back then in the 70's.

A couple of members on here were making some nice repro metal ones, but I don't know if he &/or she are still making them (I got one for the Halibut).

In the UK they called the 914-2.0 the 914SC" with Porsche's permission, & it was never halted over there, as they forced Porsche+Audi/VW of America to do here in mid-73 MY.

Since yours was a California 914 originally - you could go either with 914S, or with the UK 914SC nomenclature for the Appearance + Performance Groups trim package on a 73 914-2.0 - as opposed to other 914-2.0s without both of those options groups included in the base price.

I think A&Pgirl on here bought the lathe/equipment from Rich who made my badge, so try PMing here if she's still making them, if you want one (they had no posts BTW).

Also of note - the early 73 MY 1.7s & 2.0s may have left the factory with no engine size badges, & the rear trunk walls were drilled after the fact to mount the 1.7 or 2.0 badges - otherwise this was done after the fact at the Karmann plant.

My 8/31/72 built 73 2L has those drilled holes - i.e.: not stamped out holes - for the 2nd 2.0 badge.
