Hello All,

Just bought a "new to me" 1976 model. I'll try to post a few pics, but I'm new to the site, so bear with me.

This thing's barely a 76' model, as most of the panels have been bastardized. The door handles and side markers have been shaved, and the front headlights and turn signals....well, ....you can see for yourself.

At any rate, the car actually has very little rust, and I THINK I can still make it a decent looking cheap project. Thinking about keeping it super light and adding fiberglass bumpers, pulling out most unnecessary parts, and changing the single carb setup to dual carbs....mainly because it doesn't run right now, and came with extra set of carbs, manifold intakes, etc.

Looking forward to the project....I sanded/primed the passenger rear quarter last nite, as well as both sail panels. The rest of the primer/bondo was already done by p.o., and I'll be redoing. I'll probably be asking for a lot of advice when I get to the mechanical/electrical portion of the program, so hopefully I won't be too much of a pain in the ass!

Good luck with your new toy. What engine is in it? How much work needed to get it on the road?

Any hardware included with those custom turnsignal buckets? Looks like they're fitted for headlights.

Welcome! And maybe it's just me but it I like the headlight mods. If there were lights that fit and really, actually worked, I'd be looking into that. I like the "no pop up headlights" look.

Taste being a personal thing and all...

Thanks for all the Welcomes! The engine is a 2.0, unconfirmed, but I'll try to check some engine #'s this weekend.

I actually like the headlight modifications too, provided I can find some lights that fit and look like they belong. I think with the right bumper and front air dam, I'll be able to ascertain the right look. I also really like the shaved markers and handles,... think it makes the car look really clean...or ...it will...

As far as getting it back on the road, the p.o. told me that it hasn't run since the late 90's,...the shifter needs, at least, new bushings, the gas tank is there, but not hooked up, nor is the reservoir. The wiring harness is more or less "laying" in the vehicle, and pretty much attached to air... All engine tins are in boxes, along with other parts.

It's gonna be awhile, but I'm nearly 50, have some free time, and am not nearly as frustrated as I should be....so I figure this project will solve most of those issues.

and the madness that is these cars,looks like a lot of $$$ spent on bodywork already which is mostly good and sometimes a little bad ,problem being you don't know whats underneath .
Please cover those exposed area's of filler to avoid latter issues bog (bondo ) can suck up moisture and cause big issues when you come to paint the car later,seen it before .
Research on here and find the main rust issue areas and check those on the car you have,good luck.

Something similar was done by Felix (neo914-6). Here's his build thread. Not sure where he ended up with things. Pretty cool looking car and lots of neat innovations on it.
