Just a reminder, everyone is welcome to come to my shop, currently located on my property in Washington Court House, OH, to do a diagnostic and rebuild on their transmission. I can do other stuff as well with the 914, but my specialty is the gear box. This will be coming to an end at this location about May or so when I sell the house and move closer to Columbus. Take advantage of it while you can! At the new residence, I will be in a suburban development (gasp) so not sure if I will be able to sustain people over in my home garage or not. It looks promising, though. I have a member coming this Sat for a rebuild session, looking forward to it. 1:1 is a lot of fun and we can do more stuff than at the clinics.

Wish I still lived in Chillicothe, I'd be over there in a heartbeat. Do you have any clinics coming up in the northwest? I'm in Washington now and have a Guard diff that needs to go into a box before next year's autocross season. Or, what's it cost to ship a transmission? I still get out to Chillicothe for work every now and then, maybe I could extend a trip over a weekend.

Spoiler alert!
If you need/want to get your transmission straightened out and want some hands on experience as well, this is a MUST do.
The Dr will do the rebuild while you're there and you get to assist, learning a HUGE amount about the 901 transmission at the same time!
Dr. is a good guy to hang out with too :-)
And, I might add your transmission will be bullet proof after that. I did mine with the Dr a few years ago. It was extensive and many many mods were done setting up for my v-8 (blocked 1st, flipped some gears and added an H gear). I have regularly flogged this car on the street and at Summit Point Racepark. Not a single failure yet!
And the best part? It didn't break the bank :-)
Do it Grasshoppa. You won't be disappointed.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow. Last major piece of my 3.2 conversion that needs to be done before the motor can go in. The case and stack are ready for the magic to begin. Click to view attachmentClick to view attachment

Its still possible, but things keep coming up. The latest is that the new job has shit for leave. It takes a long time to earn a day off and I need like 10-14 days if doing Oz. No way I am just coming down to work. Michel is usually harassing me every few months. I think about Oz often, don't worry.

Shipping is approx. $100 each way. Contact me for details as I have specific ways to ship to make it easy, cheapest, and save money.

For a LSD placement, you will not be able to do that at the clinic as it takes its own set of special tools and would be a solid second day for one box, often. You have to assemble, check, disassemble, change shims, assemble, check, disassemble, change shims.....repeat. Then, when all seems correct, I check the mating with Prussian blue. PM me and I can get you set up with an idea to get you on the track asap.

Right on. Hit me up when the time comes. Just had a member over today, installed Torque bias LSD, special gear ratios, checked all the important things and buttoned it up. Another satisfied customer. Can't wait to see this one in action.

I spent 8 hours Saturday with Dr Evil rebuilding my transmission. We locked out first, changed gears to give me a F-O-X-H gear box to better match the 3.2 i'm installing and then set the pinion depth, prevailing torque, and backlash for a Wavetrac torque biasing differential. I learn a lot. Mike is also a great guy who was a pleasure to get to know.

Now i just need to finish my build so i can enjoy the new transmission.

Nope.

The origial addresses gear changes, and 904 shaft, which don’t add much content to the whole DVD set. The R/P setup takes special and expensive tools that home builders won’t have access to so there would be no value in producing that portion other than as an interest piece. Likewise, LSD addition requires same special tools. Intermediate plate swapping is covered in original DVD, as are usual parts problems and identification. Also, there is no dearth of info on supplemental and pictographic materials pertaining to the DIY aspects you mention. Many threads I have already done on this site, as well as contribution by others. If I had the time and resources I’m the future, I may do a free YouTube posting of some of the aforementioned, but I’d need a pretty good lull in life to afford such time to focus on it and I don’t foresee this happening in the near future.
