Not sure what these are properly called, as they don't seem to have a unique p/n in the PET (just part of the wishbone assembly), but I need both left and right of what the arrow is showing. I can't find mine. I think I may have left them at the powder coater when the rest of the assembly was done earlier this year headbang.gif

FWIW (but I don't think it matters), it's a '75.

Not my pic, but useful for pointing out what I need:

I have some that you can have for the cost of shipping.

Hey Kevin - that's awesome, thank you. PM' on the way.

Be aware the rears are left and right specific. They install with the big end of the loop up and towards the outside of the car. The fronts install with the oval reinforcement up. I have installed many sets and have my own method using a long piece of thread-all to pull them on. You need to knock out the Welch plug to clean out the inside of the A arm or the dirt and crude will get in the splines and interfere with the torsion bar installation.

Rob, I dug out a pair and they fit in a small Priority Mail box.

Good info, thanks Bruce. Is the "welch plug" that little circular cover?

Also: are there different years of auxiliary support / cross member? I am looking at mine scratching my head a bit, as I'm not sure it looks the same as the one on my '72. I had this one off of my '75 project car powder coated. My intent was to put new bushings in it and swap it out with the one on my '72 (and then get that assembly cleaned up).

You are the man. Thank you, sir!

There are two different part #s for the cross members, Rob.

The '6s' have 901 341 013 03

The '4s' have 914 341 013 03

Right you are, Mark. This is for a -4.

Here's a pic of the end where the "collar" would go, in theory. Does this look stock? I'm struggling to see how the collar would fit or mate into this. It almost looks like it's built into the this assembly and not a separate piece. I suppose I'll be able to confirm, and maybe I'll figure it out, once I get Kevin's that he's sending.

Rob, I crawled underneath mine and took a couple of pictures.

Hey Kevin, thanks for doing that. I had my '72 on a lift yesterday, and it definitely looked different. Am I going crazy? It looks like in your picture the tab where the bolt goes through is a separate piece, while mine appears to be integrated into the support itself.

Well that seals it. My aux support / cross member is "different" in that it has this piece built in. That would explain why I couldn't "find" these collars. I never had them.

My question now: is this stock 914 or something different? And is there any issue putting the elephant control arm bushings in these? This thing came off of a '75 that is/was totally stock, as far as I know.

Thanks, Kevin!

I can send you a 914 cross member for the cost of shipping. The only difference between the 914 and 911 is non functional in that the very end is square on a 911 member. Also 911 had the month and year stamped inside the bearing bracket.
All 914 cross members are the same.

Rob, I have a 75 as well, I also parted out three other 914’s. 2-73 and 1-74 and all of the cross members that I have look like the one in the picture. I am not sure what you have. I would ship you a cross member for shipping costs if you need one.
Best of luck, Kevin
bdstone914
Go with Kevins cross member. much closer to you.
I have 5 of them that need good homes. here is a 911 and 914 to show the difference.
BeatNavy
Sounds good, thanks Bruce. Kevin, I'll gladly take that cross member from you as well, if you can shoot me shipping costs.

I'm still stumped what cross member this would be.

Thanks, fellas. Very helpful, as always.

I think some on welded in the bearing bracket to the cross member.
And the big end of the loop should be up so they got them on the wrong sides.

It's hard to tell for sure from that single picture, but it looks like your collars are actually in place in that cross member. Maybe that's why you couldn't find yours -- they were already there.

See if you can pry them out. They are supposed to be a snug fit in the cross member, so it might take a little muscle. I had to use a pry bar between the cross member and the vertical tube of the collars to get mine out, you will probably need to do the same thing.

Good catch. After looking more closely at the picture I agree they are there
and need to be pryed out.

Oh, geez, I'm an idiot. Bill's absolutely right. I took a closer look at them this morning and got them to slightly budge with a little prying - they are in there tight, but definitely in there. I guess with the initial dirt on them I didn't notice, and then when they were powder coated that way it looked like one integrated piece. Getting them out may be "fun." Sorry to waste everyone's time, but at least I'm smarter (marginally) than before. Kevin, I'll PM you.

They get stuck in there as the bolt pinches the cross bar. Pry bar on the back bearing bracket should get them out.

Bill's absolutely right.

Could you please say that to my wife? She won't believe me if I tell her. lol-2.gif
