POLL CLOSED! CONGRATULATIONS JIM!

Welcome to the Dec/Jan 2017 COTM (Car Of The Month) poll. Please vote for for your favorite car!

Each contestant will be encouraged to post one picture as well as a description of your car. I will put that in the top post for the members to vote. If no information or picture is provided I will put their name and find a picture of their car.

Each contestant is then encouraged to post as much as they want within this thread to support their car, or they may link to their own threads.

Voters... Remember this is not a popularity contest, this is about which car is your favorite build, which means the most to you, which you find the most impressive, which you simply like the most.

The winner will then be required to provide 3 pictures of their car that will be used on the home page and a 25 word description of their car, and their car will be on display on the home page until the next car is appointed! This is due by one week after poll closes to avoid delays and allow Andy enough time to edit the home page for the next month.

Posting as a contestant, please see my build thread for my fun adventure. Its more a hot rod/tuner car than anything. Its my first car that I have had since I was 14 and I've been using it as my test bed for all my nifty little ideas. I've learned to weld on this car, paint and bodywork, do upholstery, ect.

Thats a good question. I saw that thread as well but didnt see any more information follow it. Im going to assume that yes he still does.
Tom_T
Pat's 914 "Fritz" - pic below is from his VIN listing, & from an old Concours (... d'Elegance) - probably from when he was still in Ohio at a Cinci PCA CdE (I assume that he then lived in Louisville due to the KY tags).

IPB Image
Added from his VIN details: "Original CW owner! Yeah, I know, the wheels are not original. But I like 'em. My originals are restored & may get used again someday."

I know it was repainted once since he told me about it, & that he was such a stickler for originality, that he had to convince the painter to do a little orange peel surface to match the original way the Karmann Plant did them - slightly imperfect, as compared to too overly-restored with a glass surface (to each their own of course).

Since Pat &/or his 914 is soon to be leaving the fold - I voted for his "Fritz" - since he's maintained as a guiding force for originality & has moderated the O&H Forum for many years, & knows so much having owned Fritz since new, in the Spring of 72.

Although Jim's (banananose) 914-6 is EXCELLENT having seen it in person, & SoCalAndy & Kent did masterly work on it, as did the rest of the team who worked on parts. I truly hope that someone will renominate Jim's -6 again in the near future (if it doesn't win here).

PS - don't let your spell checker add the ending "e" to Concours ..... it's correctly "Concours d'Elegance" & often here shortened to just "Concours."

:confused:where's Larmo? Where did these cars get nominated.?
Maybe the Russians had something to do with it .
Larmo63
The four cars were already nominated.....

All worthy, btw. smilie_pokal.gif

The recent thread was not a nomination thread as I mentioned 4 times in that thread dry.gif

This is the nominations were voting on back on Sept 1st. I just never got around to putting the poll up.

All fine cars.

It makes me appreciate ALL of those people out there than have spent decades loving, chasing, restoring, and for some, even driving these lowly cars.

I think 2018 is the year of getting all of our cars on the road! aktion035.gif

I think if the topic remained at the very top, we would get more voting results. Maybe even if it was highlighted or blinking? Something to draw peoples attention.

I would also like to see more voting, perhaps this could help increase it.

Voted. This was a very tough call. Both Jim and Pat deserve the win. In the end, no surprise, I had to go with Jim's car. To bring one of these back from the dead is a herculean effort. One more Six on the road. first.gif

Pat’s car deserves to win one time. I found a new Engine compartment tray for it Pat. LOL

Jim’s car is super and can win next month. A shot out for Pat. Well OK, then I nominate Pat’s car for the next one.

I'll 2nd it!

And I'll add that Pat also deserves a nod for Moderating the O&H Forum so masterfully all the years! beerchug.gif

That means a lot to me. Thank you. And thank you to Andy, Kent, Bob and Dave. Anyone who has taken on the daunting task of restoring a 914, knows that it takes a whole lot of help. This car was certainly no exception. The results speak to the knowledge that these guys have, and to the great help that 914 World has been. Without 914 World I would not have met these guys or many other 914 enthusiasts. Sir Andy, you kicked ass! You too Andyrew.

That's quite an acceptance speech. But truth be told, if it wasn't for the great food, drink, and learning sessions, I would have skipped it. biggrin.gif car turned out perfect...
banananose914
Shut up, Dave. The only reason you were invited was because your wife wanted you out of the house.
EdwardBlume
Congratulations Jim! smilie_pokal.gif Well deserved.

Since it was so close with Jim and Pat can we do something unconventional and feature Pat's car the next go around? It would mean something to me and likely others to see it after Jim's time is done.

Cheers.
