I can't dispute that... And not to turn this into a debate but, IMO, it would have been cool to keep a V8 engine class. There was so much innovation and it was a class far more people could get into. Once the factories (Porsche in particular) got involved, the "little guys" didn't stand a chance.
I have a buddy who built his own CanAm car and raced it. He likely would never have won, but again, he was on the grid.
The price of progress, I suppose.
