Hi guys, haven't posted for a while, but have a question that I hope is an easy fix. My car (74) has recently been semi restored. Now when I drive it the engine lid will pop up after hitting a bump or even less like cornering. How do you adjust it to stay closed until I pull the release?
Thanks, Rick

Try turning the metal catch.

or maybe it does not locked well. Try lubricating the mechanism.

The metal pin on the lid is adjustable ...

Yup. Mine started that at Oscar's event last year. About the 5th time it popped up that week I looked at it and found the adjustment Andy mentioned. Baby steps, won't take but an 1/8" to reset it.

And the L-shaped brackets on the firewall like to crack and the bottom of the L starts to droop. That results in a lid that doesn't fit well and will pop open going over bumps. Inspect those next time you open the engine lid.

Thanks guys. I lowered the pin on the lid and will drive around tomorrow to see if it worked.
