Still welding and still driving.

Yeah, but it doesn't include his gleeful presentation of the part needed to fix my rear trunk lock. I was maybe 2,000 miles from home at wcr 2018. Let us go back home locking up the trunk like civilized people. That miscreant Cary is almost as bad.
cary
Here he is engineering and test fitting the rear solid transmission mount for the run mode. Ours will be bolted in and isolated. I hate rattles.
We're on about plan H. Went thru a lot of variations. But I wanted quick and dirty.

We've been busy all week.
Me, making sure I've ordered all the parts for both the engine stand and the DP long
repair. Plus lots of shop housekeeping and maintenance.

Here's a good shot of the Mad Scientist at work.

Stand is already in use. Ran an oil pressure test on the DP engine yesterday, 30 seconds ZERO oil pressure. Mechanical oil pressure gauge doesn't waver.
Had to walk away .................. telling myself, I wasn't going to EVER start someone
else's engine rebuild again.

Charles Freeborn
Yep. Best thread ever.
I sure wish my dad hadn't died young (56). There's so much I could have learned from him.

Time fly's ...............
Merry Christmas from MiddleMotors and Jack & Cary

Work continues on the engine run stand. Should be running the DP zero oil pressure
engine be next week. No primer goo in the pump.
But here he is chomping at the bit.

He can't wait to fabricate the next gadget. Monday was a saddle mount for the dual mechanical oil pressure sender.
Thursday, fuel pump and oil catch can mounts.

Or did he already lend his name to a product? All I know is that every time I see pics of him working with Cary, all I can think is "Go, Jack!" laugh.gif

Super In Law is the man! first.gif

Love seeing him getting cool projects done.

Happy holidays and New Year!

Jack's work continues on the frame bench.
Using one of our donor cars for a jig mule.

We're going to swap out the heavy pulling beams for channel iron. It will give me
more room to move around and work.

Super In Law is amazing and should be an inspiration to all of us.

I wish he were closer to me, although frankly, if he would work on my car I would load it on a trailer and drive it there from PA!

Love to see what he is up to..... keep the threads/posts coming!
914Sixer
He gives me inspiration. At 71 I try to keep as busy as possible, you stop, you drop.

Yesterday he did tune the right tranny mount a bit. About 1.5mm too tight. Left last
night with him cutting the steering rack mount in half and creating a sleeve so they
can be used seperately.

Thought I'd shared this with you guys ..............
His new hearing aids are great. He can tune/adjust with his new IPhone 8.
Three settings. Regular, restaurant and off for grinding and hammering.

And the hearing aids act as phone and music headphones.

Impressive work, and very nice thread.

If you have details on the hearing aids, I would appreciate. It’s very difficult to communicate with my dad.

Thanks! beerchug.gif

Hi Cary,

Could you post a few detailed pics of the front bench fixtures please.

Thanks,
Morph914
Keep it coming! Love this thread.
I am a firm believer in use it or lose it! Great inspiration to all, God bless Jack!
I think the t shirt idea is great, I am in for one.

Cary, Thanks for posting the pics. Got any pics of the front strut sections ?
I plan on using a cross member for my bench fixture as well. I'm not sure about the strut section yet.
cary
I'll shoot them tomorrow.

Time for a little catch up. Super In Law is basically in prison. Goes nowhere, see no one.
Last week weather was nice so he worked in the backyard.
He's uncovering what we call the chicken house. Basically its his 40 years of going to garage sales hoarders storage unit.

What a way to start your nursing career. My little one is doing her residency at St.James hospital in Butte, Mt. Surgery / Pediatrics so she's kinda safe. She'd been there 4 weeks when things broke out. I don't think they have any cases yet. They only have 6 of those HVAC controlled rooms.

All good here ............

Thanks for letting us know. Super-in-law crossed my mind when all of this broke out. I am glad to see he is staying away from everyone.

My father-in-law is 94 and he is confined to quarters to the extent possible. We live about 30 minutes away and we check on him by phone daily and then shop for him one time per week. Try telling a 94 year old he can't go anywhere where people are. But I explained that for him, catching this virus would be a life ender and he now understands. beerchug.gif

Geez ............... Time fly's.

Here's Jack's (Super In Law) latest creation.
Built a tool to press a jack post indentation into 18 ga sheet metal. Primarily for
left side jack post cancer. But still use it on small right side repairs.

Press portion. He did use up some .030 wire rolleyes.gif .

Very nice. Are you going to put those up for sale? I could have used one of those yesterday (and may need one for the other side).

And very happy to see Super In Law is still charging forward.
