ok i got a lot of $$ invested in the 4 bolt wheels and front bmw calipers and complete rear rebuild; so how do i get bigger brakes and keep the 4 lug set up ??? i'm totally into the new wrx conversion with the new hp i need bigger stopping power or so i was told....??? thanks.

Billet hubs at your favorite club store

I have the billet hubs and M calipers in front and BMW in the rear and at the circuit race in Tecate MX I could out brake both the all wheel drive Mitsu and Subaru but I also have Good year slicks and they had something else? I for get what but they were 225 size so I had a little tire foot print on them. I'd say try the new hubs as they seem to work great. I'll do a super speedway test this coming week where we go from 135 MPH to 35 MPH at turn 3 and a 110 MPH to 35 MPH stop each lap. With the BMW on both ends I could out brake most of the 2L 911s and 356s.

Does anyone here offer caliper adapters for mounting larger Porsche calipers on struts with 3.5" spacing?

You know I have been on ths board for a darn long time. I used to praise the BMW upgrade on y 1st 914. Now that I have a stock set up that works great I dn't know what I was thinking. I do however have Really good pads both front and rear. I think Porterfield R4S. Definately not stock pads. 17mm M/C also.

I'll tell ya I can stop on the preverbial dime. Don't need no bigger brakes on the Autocross course either.

So if you got to have bigger brakes you better get BIGGER tires that stick like glue because you will flat spot them easily. Better shocks to control the suspension under braking too.

With flares, a large six, coil over suspension at all four corners, 7s & 9s x 16, I think that bigger brakes are a part of the equasion. Are you suggesting that they aren't needed?

He was making a kit for using Boxster S(?) calipers for the 3.5" spacing struts.Not sure if he sells the adapters seperately or not.....I'd also look for ads in Panorama or Excellance.

I got my setup from Rich Johnson (a914guy) and am running Boxster brakes on the front with the 3.5" struts and a mounting bracket. You can buy all from him or separate. Stops as hard as your foot can stomp (since there's no assist or ABS, naturally), haha.

Why only 7" fronts????
this is where all your braking happens. Seems like you are handicapping the big brakes with minimal contact patch.
Get some REAL good tires OK....

My 8 x 15 rims nearly fit under stock front fenders.
I'm putting 8.1 inches of rubber to the ground in front.

If ya got to have big brakes you need BIG rubber.

You are correct 8s would be better...I am actively looking for a pair now. Know where I can find any of those?

Thanks for the input on where to buy. There are several companies advertising them in Excellence and Panos just thought I'd send the business towards another teener if possible.

I've seen Rich's set up but I don't believe they will work with the set up I plan on using.

yes i'm gettin falken aziens 615 rt 205/50/15 so ditch the bmw calipers and go with ??? with the billet hubs and m''s??? i'm slow on some things also

the advantage of the billet hubs is the vented rotors, you'll get less brake fade due to the better cooling of the vented rotors and the nice aluminum heat sink of the new hub...................some people plan on using Volvo calipers (4 piston), but I do not know if they are running them yet.......

cametal: they have 19mm M/C and Koni ft struts in 914 assemblies with Mikes new bearings in 911 A arms with sc T/bars

Do you know what model car they came from or have a part number?
Did you do any mods to fit them?
These look like a good upgrade for my car. I have the old model 911 struts with M calipers and a 19 mm master cyl.

By no means dissing Mike beautiful hubs or Berns system but your 911 struts have a beefier spindle. I don't think that would be an "up"grade. I think the rest you could do to your suspension (Koni Inserts and the Calipers... oh, and the faster yellow paint)

I just want to upgrade to the calipers, using my struts. I would like the 4 pistons and the larger brake pads.
