I have some Fuchs wheel bolts that I believe are original OEM. They have some rust on them, and appear to be steel? Anybody have any luck restoring or cleaning them up? TIA

You can buy them new as well.

I would wire wheel the threads and plate the heads. I just posted a thread on lug bolts.

If your lug bolts rust thar means your car actually gets wet! Yikes.

I throw them in some vinegar for a week, spray on a little wd40 and then send them for plating.

Zinc. But for a quick fix you can clean them up and spray some clear.

I asked the same question over on O&H recently (http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=335177). Consensus is they were originally clear/silver cadmium plated but bright silver zinc looks really close.
