LCOX
Having a problem with my tachometer on my 74 914. The tach needle stays stuck at 4000 rpms when I finished driving the car and shut off the engine. I tapped on the plastic lens and the needle dropped to 0 rmps where it should be
-Anyone know why this happened? Does the tach need to be disassembled and cleaned or lubricated internally? Any ideas? Thanx L
UROpartsman
That's correct LCOX, you may want to have to have it professionally rebuilt. The needle starts to stick when they get old and the lubricant dries out internally.

not hard to do if you you have about level 3 skills, lots of write ups on the subject including one on replacing the intervals. I have a write up in my sig on how to disassemble a gauge, tach is slightly different but not hard at all.
