My first thought is it should be in the Porsche Museum!

Maybe VW group or Porsche will buy it and put it in a museum. This is going to truly be a bidder war.

I remember Locomobile #16, the 1908 Vanderbilt Cup winner, being restored at my friend Manny's. The Ford Museum bought it, so don't despair....

Why not text-email- etc. to Porshe Corporate and suggest they acquire it?

In May 1945 American troops discovered the one put in storage, cut the roof off and used it for joyriding for a few weeks until the engine gave up and it was scrapped. The last remaining Porsche 64 was owned by Ferry Porsche who had it restored by Battista Farina in 1947. In 1949 it was sold to the Austrian motorcycle racer Otto Mathé and with it he won the Alpine Rally in 1950. The last time he drove it in a race was at the Monterey Historic Automobile Races in Monterey, California, in 1982.[citation needed] The one that was scrapped has also been rebuilt and is now on display in the Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, CA, shown on MotorWeek S37 Ep32 on 4/13/18.[2]

Check this article out guys. A buddy told me about it. According to Frank Jung, head of the historical archives in Porsche, and Andy Prill, a mechanical engineer and owner of Prill Porsche Classics in England, says this is not the “first” Porsche. Here comes the controversy:

A very confused mess to me. I'm not even sure the car sold. I'm also thinking it was all
an intended stunt. Such a significant car, looks like they could have done a classier job than that IMHO..

Yep and Pulled. Good write up on Bloomberg. The pundits were a little overly optimistic. Sounds like the auction on this car was a mess.

Apparently the auction started at a crazy high number by mistake and then they had to reverse it and at that point in time there were confusied bids being placed. The whole thing just was a mess.

Yea but the people bidding had to think they were also bidding 30,40,50,60M...it doesnt add up at all

The number was displayed on the screen, then followed by bids of $40 million, $50 million, $60 million and $70 million. At least that’s what it sounded like.

“It says seventy, guys, it’s seventeen,” he then said, garnering a round of jeers and causing several people to walk out on the event.
