We have a winner. The fatality occurred at 615665.
Would love to have seen it go further but really it's overkill.

So looks like @SB914 is the winner.
I'll drop you a PM with the code
Thanks for playing!

You should have said 1,829,828 (2 x 914,914) which is my guess and obviously a much better number!

Yeah, that would have been better. I had a reason for picking this number, but have forgotten it.

Rest in peace, relay!

What part of it failed? Coil? Contacts?

So, we’re testing one of our new improved relays and we’re currently through 545,000 cycles. We are doing live load testing on a timer that cycles ever 7 seconds. It may stop tomorrow, it may keep going for a few more months. So let’s bet how many cycles can we get before it dies?
Closest guess gets a $50 credit
What’s your number.?

I bought the relays, but as a retired scientist I have to take issue. The real test is to take ten of your relays and put them upside down outside for a year in Portland. You are presupposing a failure mode that is unlikely. Still, I like my new relays, and I hope they will be reliable.

Why would we put them outside? Testing should be for the application they are being used for. Anything else is just playing.

If we have to take ten it may take awhile.
We've seen enough that we offer a 2 yr warranty, that's way better than anything else on the market. biggrin.gif

I said I bought them, I like them. I just don’t think the originals failed from over use. I think they failed because of age and corrosion. Most 914s have spent considerable time outdoors. At least the two I have did. I figure Portland is worse than some, and better than others. It snowed here on Sunday, but they didn’t put out road salt. If the body’s rust, so can the relays.
Thank God I can now get dependable relays from a reliable, stand up source. Not like the cheap, fail out of the box relays I have been getting. Thanks Mark!

and I was going to say 615666. haha
