This was close by and at a price that made it hard to ignore
It is an abandoned project that hasn’t been on the road for about 15 years following a failed clutch change
Needs a lot of mechanical work but the body work and interior is excellent
It’s in storage for now and will be the next project once the 914 is on the roadClick to view attachment Click to view attachmentClick to view attachment

I like the 924, had a few ranging from 1978, 79, and I think an 81 and of course an 87"S". Didn't the 924 have a CD of something like .29?

The brakes are seized solid and my Merc had to drag it away from the pit it was over as it wouldn't roll
So everything hub / brake / suspension related on all 4 corners will need to come off.
The transaxle is disconnected but the torque tube is still connected and it was all held up via a transmission jack that was down in the pit. The bell housing at the engine end was disconnected but wasn't drawn back far enough to get to the clutch.
At this point the PO had walked away from the job as he was stuck, he then fell ill and passed away and its been sat ever since.

I pushed the bell housing at the front back over the clutch, put a couple of bolts into hold the torque up and then roped the transaxle to the chassis to take the weight and reconnected the rear drive shafts.

I used the Merc to drag it away from the pit and then got a guy with a trailer and winch to get it over to my Mums place and into her garage for temporary storage

I love it,I want to see pictures of the Merc...........

You don't know how much I am hoping it is not a Benz but a 50s Mercury Lead Sled with some large Lincoln engine, slammed, and chopped...... aktion035.gif

Even some brave mechanics have surrendered to the 924/944 clutch job. That was probably the most aggravating repair I ever did.

Cool, 924's are fun!

I had a 944S2 once, loved that car. But had to be sold due to moving houses.

Great Project and why not add another Porsche to the collection?

Although I was hoping it was a "Black Max" Merc Power beer3.gif

Should be an interesting project. Looks like a gray market car with the side blinkers and smaller bumpers...

Had a 944 when they first came out. A great cruiser...

Won't be many at your local C&C...
