Edit 10/28/2020:
1 more pair of late latches and two pair of early latches available.

These have the plastic removed and are powder coated satin black.
New spring are made and installed with a stronger push on fastener for the hook.

Note the difference between early and late latches. The early latches have lower locating bumps that are farther apart. Late latches have taller bumps and that are closer together.
Compare to what is on your car. Early should be 70-72 and late from 73 on.
The latch must mate to the rubber block on the top to fit properly.
I have two pairs of early and late latches finished. I have finish parts to make several ore pair.
I request your old latches in return so I can continue offering these. It is ok if the hooks are missing as I have the reproduced.
$90 per pair shipped.

I need a set of early Bruce. I don't have cores. I might, but they're buried somewhere. If at some later date I'm digging through stash and find a set I would gladly send them your way.
yellowporky
I will take a pair of late.
Thanks
Chris

I will take a set of late latches if still available. Thank you.

I like the push fastener idea ! I have struggled with the "C" clips falling off. I ended up using "E" clops, but like your approach better !

I went through 3 different types until i found these. We used to use them to hold on electric fan blades. The problem is the posts are worn and more lateral forces are placed on the hooks. The only down side is they qre q one use fastener. You can drive them on to remove the slop on the post.

Bruce just to clarify the early & late ARE interchangeable but would also have to change the corresponding rub block ?
I also have SEVERAL sets of cores & what I found was there is also a style change.
It seems that on the some early latches the body was stainless vs the later painted or coated mild steel.

I dont know if they are interchangable. The later blocks are also taller. The window seals are different too.I want to try it to find out.
Some early latches were chrome not stainless.

Do you want to trade for the cores? I more need late cores.

I have always wonder where the chrome latches were used. There is not a different par number for them. Anyone have a 71 or 72 with chrome latches?

They may be interchangable it the block is changed. I have not tried to swap the block to verify. In addition to the later blocks

agree.gif Great solution to a near universal problem.......actually two problems.
The 'lobster claw' clip was no longer dependable on an oxidised post and when it
was firm it didn't remove excess wobble on the hook. Excellent innovation Bruce.
Seems to me early cars ('70-'72 ?) had a chrome plated flat rest for the rubber
block attached to the roof. Later cars it was black

My non-appearance group April 73 2L has one of each. Originally had one early and one late rear brake caliper too.
