Hi, about 15 years ago when my father and I went to pick up his 914-6. There were two motors for picking up, the original and the 901/16.
Yesterday I decided to clean this motor up and pull the top and off. To my surprise it appeared to be a fresh rebuild, the pistons still had marker numbers on them. At what temperature do you think the marker would burn off of the piston tops? I have included a few pictures. It appears to be older oil pump, case was resealed, new seals in the end. The bottom ends spins freely, chains and guides look new. I’m having a hard time deciding whether I should split the case, or just take some good measurements clean it up and put it back together. I would have to have a lot of hope in the previous person to just assume they put the case back together correctly.(I never met him or her).....Click to view attachment Click to view attachmentClick to view attachmentClick to view attachment[attachmentid=765
