Hi all

After finding i have 4 seriously leaking injectors on a new purchase i need to think about replacements- i have had the original 4 looked at this morning at the local bosch authorised service centre and been advised they are scrap and cannot be rebuilt, he also noticed 2 have been previously sealed with superglue.

I appreciate after market replacements may give mixed reviews and opinions but for me if I have any chance of enjoying the car next spring will be my only option due to cost.

Can anyone recommend a cost friendly replacement injector?


From past searches iv seen talk of fj114s and fj6s but id like to know if anyone is using anything successfully they can recommend to me?

Please ignore my ignorance, while im capable of fitting parts im no mechanic and my skills are in body repair or were until fibromyalgia got in my path.

Hi, I do not think there are replacement injectors for the yellow 1.7 out there that work.
But of course I can be wrong and let's hope the others will chime in soon !
PS: if the injectors mentioned by you work, then it is a great price for replacements for sure !!!!

Mr Injector guided me to Rock Auto for my inexpensive injectors for my 1.7. They’ve worked flawlessly. I’d give you their part number but it incredibly easy to navigate their site.

Click to view attachmentAre they just out of stock? I’m assuming the ‘73 1.7 injectors I just looked up are the same for all 1.7’s. Perhaps an old fashioned phone call to Rock Auto would clarify? ah! I now see the “reman” tag. If mine were remanufactured, I didn’t realize it. They looked brand new and have worked great!

I've used the Standard for a few years now. Haven't had any problems with them. Check Ebay that's where I got mine at $36 each, but that was a few years ago.

1.7 core injectors are that cheap to buy used buy a few extra's and farm them out for testing and cleaning to Mr Injector,cheap and effective.
The Standard motor ones are good and made by Intermotor in the EU and have received good reviews by many as mentioned.
I found 1.8 ones on ebay for $50/hole...good value.

Just to add reman units are limited to no more than the injector clean/test guys do,if and injector has a poor spray pattern for example the pintel is rusted or leaking or the body is leaking....in the bin.
I have personally seen this process ,it starts off with ultrasonic clean after the first flow and leakage check,results are checked and if they don't reach Bosch service limits as said ...in the bin, have had great results with this process on my early BMW's,944's and lots of EFI Golfs.

I agree. I’ve sent a couple hundred to mr injector for this.

A lot of them were 3.2 or 3.6 injectors. They are crazy expensive to buy new but I would say every 30 injectors would see 2 bad ones. Mr Injector sends a before and after flow test report, makes them look like new, includes new seals and hose and has very fast turn around. $17.50 each but doesn't charge for ones that don't work correctly. I have no affiliation other than a satisfied customer. I'm pretty sure it's just a one man show.

The car I sold Nathan had the injectors done a couple years earlier and I'm surprised that all 4 are toast but I let the car sit for too long and that is bad for Porsche.

Bosch manufactured the last run of those injectors in 2007. I missed on the occasion to buy new ones back then.
When stored dry for a longer period or not been used (driven), they tend to dry out and fuel is leaking out between the plastic and the steel housing. Nothing you can do, since the plastic is molded onto the body. No way to separate.
Note the corrosion under the yellow plastic, too. (Yes - 914´s even rust on the injectors!)

I was lucky to obtain a bunch of used ones from the 914 Deutschland Club (I am a member of more than 30 years) and sorted out good ones.

The fj114 injectors seam like they will be the safest bet and I have sent a couple of messages to people selling them on ebay- I contacted the manufacturer and they aren't listed in the European parts catalogue so I will need to import them.

There's a nos set on the classifieds

Everywhere I look gives different flow rates for the 007 and 009 injectors- im at a point where I have no idea what the real cc is for each of the injectors

007 and 009 are the SAME injector with a DIFFERENT HOSE CONNECTOR. Also known as VW 311 133. 261A Buy the one's over on theSamba and put the curved hose kit on them. NOTHING better than NOS Bosch for $50 each.
