We are acquiring and restoring the parts to get ready for a six conversion and need some help getting a better feel for the prices. Any help with estimates would be appreciated.

We are starting with a 75 Palma 914 1.8 rust free from CA, but beat by the sun! We are rebuilding a 1969 911S 2.0 motor, and are looking to Dr. Evil to rebuild the transmission and install the LSD. A friend has a large stash of parts that he is generously donating to the build, like the motor, but I am concerned that he is under charging even though he is doing the mechanical work on the car. Here are some parts we pulled out so far:

1. 1969 911S aluminum calipers
2. 1978 front struts complete
3. Weber’s 40 IDF freshly restored

Thanks

I have a pair of nos 69S heads , if need be.

1. 1969 911S aluminum calipers- restored - $1,500
2. 1978 front struts complete-with hubs and inserts- 1,500
3. Weber’s 40 IDF freshly restored - $5,000

Just my opinion.

You mean 40 IDA or IDT right? no such animal as a IDF for the six.

(Although the PMO uses the IDF float and bowl design. Plus IDF, IDA, IDT all use the same jets and related bits.)

Estimates will vary widely. It all depends on who's parts you use and whether or not you are you are paying for labor.

I'll be underwater even using my own labor.

Exhaust pipes & HE -- $1400 - 2500 ish depending on who's (Headers are cheaper)
Muffler -- $600-$800
Oil lines - $500-600 ish (hard and soft)
Engine mount - $350 MadDog OEM + another $90 for the isolator
Oil Tank -- $500 - 700
Oil Tank filler -- $100-200 ish
Oil Tank filter console - $150
Engine Tin -- $500 - 900 depending on who's and whether powder coated or painted with rattle can. Crazy money for 914/6 OEM tin.
Shift rod modifications -- ? (I'll do my own)
5 lug conversion -- varies widely
5 lug Fuchs -- varies widely
Brakes -- varies widely especially if you want 914/6 rear calipers

That's what comes to mind quickly

I highly recommend all @mb911 's stuff and of course you can check his general pricing at

On the higher end from the pros. Jett is building up a 69S engine. Probably one of the most valuable and expensive of the production Porsche engines. I'm assuming he's not looking at the lowest cost conversion parts for the car.

Great info!

Agreed on the quality, the 911S motor is special and although we are all concerned with price, I do lean towards quality.

I will definitely use some parts from mb911, like the oil tank, which is beautiful.

Very cool! These heads are one year only parts and weirdly expensive.

Why do you have them, there has to be a story?

Yeah it's really hard to say because there's so many ways to skin this cat.
This link here is the cheapest way to build a /6.

You can use MSDS headers and a used 911 muffler, used headers often are in the FS section.
Vellios tanks come up FS.
I pounded my surround tin out of a 911 set and a T4 rear flywheel tin. smash.gif welder.gif
I made my mount , an RJ copy, MIG welded

Etc., etc., etc.....

The sickness runs deep.

+1 for Ben's @mb911 package. We worked out everything for dropping a 2.7 into my 74 914. He even helped me pick out which correct soft oil lines I would need. He modded my cooler and shift rod. The only thing not in the package was the oem mount and accelerator cable hook up which others have. My car was already setup for 5 lug so no additional cost there.
mlindner
+1 for Ben package and just go for PMO's for $4,300 complete.
