On my wiper switch there are 5 wires. Black, Brown, Green, Black/White, Black/Green

The black wire (behind the brown) mates to a brown/black wire on the main harness which isn't used. It was capped off and taped into the body of the harness right at the wiper motor. My wiring harness is a 1973.

Testing for continuity between the black and the ground I get tone when I pull the wiper switch forward. I also get continuity on the black/white wire which connects to a red/black wire to the wiper motor.

Can I use the black/brown to power an electric washer pump?

Thanks.

What you are describing is the circuit for the intermittent wiper. IF you break the tab off on stalk, the all the way down position is a hot circuit. You would have to move switch back up to neutral to turn off washer pump. You need a 6 wire switch if you want washer and intermittent wipers.

Thank you Sixer.

I've been researching and reading and it looks like if I get a 6 pole wiper switch, I will need to run a wire from the switch to the washer pump.

Since my wiring harness is out of the car, now would be the time.

I'm assuming a few things:

1. I can share the wiper motor's ground wire for the washer pump.
2. I can run the wire directly (without going through the fuse box)
3. I will need an intermittent harness (and relay).

Please let me know if I've got that right.

Thanks.

Thank you Sixer. I added the necessary wire to my harness. I'll figure the rest out when I get to that part of the build.

Thank you Sir Andy. I read that post and will definitely be referring back to it when the time comes.
